Random Thought Thread

I seriously have to wonder, if a truck manufacturer offered a "1970 Heritage Model" with no electronics, manual windows, bench seat, V8 and perhaps most importantly - manual transmission.....I bet it would sell like hotcakes. Just a basic, stripped down truck with plenty of power and no BS. I'd buy one.

I'll just leave this here...

*454 BBC, SM-465 3-speed w/ granny, NP205 cast iron/gear driven 'case, Dana 60 front axle, Dana 70HD rear axle, manual windows, manual locks, rubber floor, and a cloth bench seat to boot. (*so your "Honey/Sweetheart/Darling" can squeeze those sweet hips up against you on Valentine's Day)

Man, and I’m totally not meaning to sound like I’m tagging on you Mr Doc, I’m not. I’m just been a member on Ram and Cummins forums, and there is literally hundreds of nightmare stories of exactly what you just described, from all 1500, 2500 and 3500 Ram trucks. I hope they get it sorted out, if not 30 days waiting for parts or at the dealership and you can claim Lemon Law.
I’ve only ever liked Ram trucks. So discovering this is disappointing :(

Since I’m buying lots of knives and swords, I asked chat gpt about human inventions that will end the world. This is what it gave me, seems legit.

Invention NameBrief Description
Self-Replicating NanobotsTiny robots that can reproduce and consume any form of matter to create more copies of themselves, leading to an uncontrolled swarm that could destroy ecosystems, infrastructure, and even human bodies.
Superintelligent AIArtificial Intelligence that surpasses human intellect and can rapidly improve itself, potentially leading to unforeseen and catastrophic consequences if it decides to act against human interests.
Engineered PandemicA genetically modified pathogen that could spread rapidly and resist existing treatments, causing widespread death and social breakdown.
Uncontrolled GeoengineeringLarge-scale climate modification techniques, such as sulfur injection or ocean fertilization, that could have unintended and irreversible effects on global weather patterns and ecosystems.
Quantum DestabilizationExperiments in quantum mechanics that could create tiny black holes, warp spacetime, or otherwise disrupt the fabric of reality itself, potentially leading to catastrophic effects on a global or even universal scale.
Bioweapons DevelopmentThe intentional development and use of engineered pathogens or toxins for military or terrorist purposes, causing widespread disease and social disruption.
Nuclear TerrorismThe use of stolen or improperly secured nuclear weapons or materials by terrorists to cause catastrophic destruction and long-term environmental damage.
Extreme Climate EventsNatural disasters such as megadroughts, superstorms, and heat waves that could cause widespread destruction of infrastructure and ecosystems, leading to famine, mass migration, and social collapse.
Asteroid ImpactA catastrophic collision of an asteroid or comet with Earth, potentially causing mass extinction and long-term environmental damage.
Rogue AI in Weapon SystemsThe use of autonomous weapons systems that could malfunction or be hacked, leading to uncontrolled destruction and social breakdown.
Extreme Weather ModificationLarge-scale manipulation of the weather, such as inducing artificial hurricanes, droughts, or floods, that could have unintended and catastrophic effects on ecosystems and infrastructure.
Mass Mind ControlThe use of advanced psychological techniques, drugs, or technologies to control the behavior and thoughts of large populations, leading to authoritarianism and social breakdown.
Rogue NanotechSelf-replicating nanobots that could malfunction or be used for malicious purposes, leading to environmental damage, social disruption, and loss of life.
Synthetic BiologyThe creation of novel life forms or genetic modifications that could have unintended and catastrophic effects on ecosystems and human health.
Global Power Grid FailureA catastrophic failure of the global power grid, potentially caused by solar flares, cyberattacks, or infrastructure collapse, leading to widespread social disruption and loss of life.
Space Debris CatastropheA catastrophic collision of space debris with Earth, potentially causing mass destruction of infrastructure and environmental damage.
Artificial Reality AddictionThe widespread use of highly immersive virtual reality systems that could lead to addiction, social withdrawal, and loss of productivity, causing social and economic collapse.
Extreme BiotechThe use of biotechnology to create biological weapons, highly invasive species, or other unforeseen consequences that could cause widespread environmental and social disruption.
Quantum HackingThe use of quantum computers to break cryptographic systems or manipulate sensitive information, potentially causing economic or political destabilization.
Anti-Matter WeaponsThe use of anti-matter as a weapon, leading to catastrophic destruction and long-term environmental damage.
