Random Thought Thread

I think I hit rocks every time I have used a big chopper. I have a hard time controlling something longer than 9 inches. I’m just not really used to using anything bigger than 8 inches. If it’s over 7 inches I’m in unfamiliar territory. I don’t have experience with anything bigger than 6 inches. In fact,

Anyway, the next knife from CPK, just a suggestion, I suspect I’d be really in my comfort zone with some kind of MICRO Precision Everyday Everywhere Nife

First off, righteous beasts in those pics, boss. Sorry you didn't find it.......yet. Like Matt says, its there, and as long as you didn't skid a log over it and bury it, you can find it. If I may, I suggest two methods of searching. First, a back pack blower. get all the loose litter off all the places you think it could be, then blow the litter off of everything else too. Second, a metal springtooth leaf rake. Same method. Both of those have helped me be successful on searches like yours when throwing in the towel seemed to be the easier option.

Second, Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist , I have had a DEK1 end up on the forest floor once as well after I rolled an ATV down a hill with me on, over, under and beside it. After being thankful it didn't end up inside me, and short but frantic search for it ensued, I was thinking I wished I had brighter scales on it. Mike has touched on the same notion. Could we get something like blaze orange or toxic green micarta/G10 as regular offering for at least the smaller knives in the series, if not all of them? I realize they will not be the hottest selling materials, but those of us that could appreciate them would be willing to pay a premium like we do for other offerings. What a minute, why am I asking you, you don't actually do anything around there, lemme run it by the boss........

Hey @Jo the Machinist , can we get some hi viz scale materials as a regular offering to help jackasses like me and @Mendoman find our knives when we do dumb stuff like flip ATVs and use lanyards?
Extremely sage advice, these tips all day^^^

Went fishing yesterday and didn't catch anything that we could keep, but it still was amazing.

I'll add... the Plank, arrrrrrr!!

(port/left both only have four letters, starboard/right have more 👍🍻)
I read a short story in Reader's Digest, that cemented it in memory.

A husband just got into sailing, and was teaching his wife, who was complaining about why everything needed a different name/term, just because it was on a boat.

They were out on the ocean when it got windy and she became anxious and flustered, and started mixing terms in her confusion, yelling Starbright (thinking of Starboard and Right) and Peft (Port + Left) 🤣

Starbright sealed it.

I do hope that sucker's for sale

I just want to thank all of those who were generous enough to buy the knives I posted last week when I had some unexpected and rather large repairs to my vehicle.
I don’t like sob stories and I live by “talk is cheap.”
So here is a pic of the receipt with the pertinent details available.

I’m glad you got squared away Dan, but you broke the prime directive. You are supposed to contact me directly and sell that stuff to me before posting it. It’s okay, I had been away, you forgot, I forgive you.

Second, I feel your pain……..

I appreciate it, Yoko.
This car is 10 years old and I would hope it will last many more years. 92k miles when these darn subarus last 200k+
As it stands the last few times I have taken it in for things like oil changes, turns out a bearing needs replaced, etc. like $1100+ bills
If cars weren’t so expensive I would be out looking at something new right about now.

Dan, you don't have to splain or justify what you decide to do with your collection, none, zippo! But riddle me this, why are your nostril hairs falling out gleaning over that invoice?

That's what you get for driving a Lambo SUV, aptly named Urus!
