Random Thought Thread

The older I get the worse my writing is. I say that not in glee, but rather having looked up and respected elders throughout my life and having admired their careful and neat writing skills. Somehow, I was hoping to catch and aquire that skill, but did not. I partly blame the day and age we are in and also my job environment for it because we use computers 99% of the workday.
Lol...sometimes I'm trying to read what I wrote and I'm clueless. 😅
No matter how rushed I am, I can at least read/decipher my own handwriting.

Road trip in college, and my buddy has an address written down.
"Hey, what the heck is THIS word, here?".
"Uhhhh. I dunno".
"Whaddya mean you don't know? YOU wrote it!"
"Uhh... I thiiiiink it's, uhhhh... Syperter"
"What?"
"Syperter. I think that's what it says"
"W...T...F... there's no Syperter Ave on this friggin map". "Wait... could this be SUPERIOR?"
"Oh yeah, I think that's it"

"Good grief..."

*** sidenote on this topic;
As with many things, it takes dedication and practice to get really good at something. Penmanship is no different.

Back in my day (man, that makes me sound old), the girls I knew, were the ones who would diligently practice their penmanship, cursive or print, to the point where they could write beautiful, aesthetically pleasing letters and words, even when writing quickly. There was a particular style of print, with small, perfectly curved and rounded letters, that I mentally categorized as "teen girl handwriting".

Only a few guys ever took the time to practice their penmanship for aesthetics. I definitely wasn't one of them. I just wanted to write what I needed to write as quickly as possible, and as long as it was legible to me, and the teachers, it was good enough, misshapen, jagged letters and all.

Nowadays, I realized a lot of millennial and zoomer females apparently aren't interested in spending the time on penmanship either, because I've seen a LOT of younger female handwriting that's even uglier than mine 😅

As one of the newer CPK fans, I just want to say that waiting to get a knife from them is no sweat. The more I know about the knives and the grueling testing and supremely high standards, the more I support them. Great knives with great people building them and a lot of great people using them. My favorite spot on BF as well.

I'm just surprised that I found myself seriously considering "old guy" shoes. LOL.

But I have a torn meniscus in my knee and am getting surgery later this fall, and they don't sound so bad now.

Long shoe horns - it's a thing. This one is 31 inches. Changed our family's quality of life, lol.

Great for kids (who don't learn to tie shoes til they are 16)
Great for elderly
Great for the generally lazy, just saying

Makes getting out the door 4 to 5 times faster.

True. And once you are in a pre-order, there is less temptation to hunt for the same knife in the Exchange :)

My slip one for the past 14 years.

Love my Chacos, but where I live, that's only viable for a few more weeks.

How long should his ban be?

There is something rotten afoot.
