When you look at the variation in the sori from one sword to the next, you appreciate how difficult it was for me and everyone involved to keep and get these straight
Nathan, can you share more about the sori variation? Not the super sekret squirrel stuff for heat treat and fixtures, just the end results in terms of what kind of variation you're seeing.

These are just the first two off the stack and there's almost an eighth of an inch difference between 1 and the other. They are pinned together. Looking down to stack there's some that's probably a quarter of an inch different from one to the next.

Swords that are given a rapid quench develop a sori. Shallow hardening steels bend to the back, deep hardening steels will develop a sori to the front which is a reverse sori. Being double edged, the K18 did not develop much, but the K20 is pretty significant. Working with Dan Keffeler on this sword project, we knew that going in and put more curvature in the blank than we wanted in the finished design to compensate for this.

I don't have any unhardened blanks here to compare these two, but compared to the model (that was made referencing the CAD data) it has straightened out over half an inch

What you and the cpk team do, all the work you put in, is freaking awesome. I mean that literally, I'm in awe of the skill and effort. It's fantastic.

This kind of craftsmanship is what "made in the USA" used to mean. It's an amazing legacy to create for yourselves. Bravo, CPK!

I spy with my little eye some very interesting patterns hanging up there which let's just say that are far more interesting than this stupid monstrosity spied recently in Los Gatos CA!

my kid's developed a taste for hot sauce. I can't seem to find anything hot enough. Any suggestions?

Tabasco brand Scorpion sauce is my new go-to. It actually has a great flavor, rather than the overtly tart, vinegar flavor of the original. It is also much, much hotter than the original so be extra careful touching sensitive areas with washing hands first.
