Random Thought Thread

I ordered a mattress off Amazon yesterday. Fancy memory foam.

I always wanted one of those Purple mattresses. Then seeing the price of thousands of dollars. That dog stopped hunting.

My crude, knuckle dragging, I'd sleep on the ground without a problem, self. Has gotten old and long in the tooth. Just getting by with minimal comfort or none at all. I need to reevaluate the situation.

So I bought an Amazon basics mattress. It's 12 inches thick, full size, and was a hair over $300 bucks.

I may go into shock after it shows up. I'm not use to pampering myself. So wish me luck. Because the old dog is getting a new bed.

You will pry my memory foam pillow from my cold.dead hands. It's 10 years old and no different than the day I bought it.

I never thought I'd be one of those people that takes their pillow with them when they travel.

But yeah, I'm now one of those people.

They have 10" thick and 12" thick. I'm too heavy for the 10. Extra $50 bucks for the 12.

I've slept on foam before but it was the older yellow foam. I believe it was something like 8" thick. And talk about being comfy. Over the years I've looked for the same but usually the foam was 2 inches thick. Mattress topper. Nothing like the entire mattress being foam.

The new mattress is arriving by UPS. About 60 pounds of foam. I'm guessing it's vacuumed sealed like you see on TV. One big roll until you cut the wrapper open and it expands.

Amazon also sells couches. I'd be interested on how they ship that.

I think you’ll be good to go with the 12”. We’ve always tried to skimp out prolonging a mattress purchase by getting a 3 or 4” topper. They suck. Better off just buying a new mattress lol

If you look around at auctions and mattress dealers, you can find purple mattresses for way cheaper.

With the return guarantee that purple has, there is a steady supply of barely used mattresses in brand new shape.

I know a guy in Oregon that just cruises auctions buying those mattresses at a steep discount. Then he turns around and sells them for a moderate mark-up. Quit his regular job and does that full time now.

I had a girlfriend in Round Rock. She bought a house in Hutto.

This woman could find anything. One day a couple delivery guys show with some high end Sealy, pillow top with the box springs. King size. Couple of thousand bucks worth of a bed.

Come to find out. She paid $600. The mattress was pristine new looking and they even delivered it straight to the bedroom. The type of thing thinking this mattress had to be a fake but it wasn't.

She said she found them on Craigslist.

She was also the kind of woman that'd watch a vacuum cleaner salesman. Clean the entire living room carpet before telling him, No...Don't want it.

When I was a volunteer at a wildlife rescue in Texas, I always laughed watching the raccoons trying to reach things outside of an enclosure. They would stretch their arms out as far as possible, then turn their heads away trying to get that extra 1/2”. I don’t know how many times I have thought if that when trying to find a bolt/nut that it out of sight!🤣 I really hate it when the bolt/nut is in a position that you cannot possible get started unless you are literally a snake. Or when your forearm doesn’t fit in the space to get to the bolt.

Yea as a full figured man... me and our current memory foam mattress equals this...

(It's probably 15 years old.... and I hated that thing day 1)


Me and the Mrs are waiting on a new mattress we ordered before Christmas.... it was expensive but we splurged, she has back issues and I'm hoping it'll help a bit
