It's definitely different up here, where we regularly expect crappy winter conditions, vs in locales where it's less common.

Was watching a video yesterday of a giant slip n slide in Memphis (icy highways).

I laughed when a buddy moved down South and told me about how they shut down the highways around the city for 3 days, because they got some light flurries. The kind that any Northener knows will melt and disappear and soon as the sun comes up. (He was annoyed having to take a longer, slower route on side roads, passing the highways that were literally clear and dry within hours of the sun rising).

I understand, though. It happens so infrequently, that folks don't have the tires for it, and the city doesn't have salt trucks or plows, so everyone isn't prepared.

Are you still in Vegas? Visit Lotus of Siam if you have a chance. One of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to.

Shang Artisan Noodle was really good too. You get to watch them make noodles by hand.

It’s my third day off because of the snow (I’m east of Salem) it’s not worth the drive to work as no one will bring there vehicles in for repairs anyway.
