This is why I don't bet on sports . . .

I was only 1 of 4 in my NFL playoff picks. Fortunately, I got the only 1 that really mattered to me "right" but just barely.

So the NFC/AFC championship games for next week are set, it's the Lions v. Niners and the Chiefs v. Ravens.

The Lions are likely to give the Niners the same problems the Packers did this week, both in the air and on the ground. However, the weather prediction is for NO RAIN next week, which should improve the Niners performance.

If the Niners beat the Lions, it will set up a Super Bowl (SB) re-match vs the Chiefs, who beat the Niners 31-20 in SB 54 (2019), or vs the Ravens, who beat the Niners 34-31 in SB 47 (2012).

It would be their 8th SB appearance seeking their 6th SB championship which would tie the Steelers & Patriots for the most SB wins.

The Niners already got their a$$es kicked by the Ravens a month ago and I haven't seen any changes since then to suggest they'd be able beat the Ravens in a rematch this year.

So, I hope that the Chiefs can beat the Ravens in to give the Niners a fighting chance to win SB #6. 🙏
you say these things as if its decided on the field

Not having as much fun as this guy !
I like Jason Kelce's attitude towards life. "Well, I ain't gettin' another Super Bowl ring, and I ain't gettin' younger, and I ain't doin' another year of having 3,000 pounds of dudes jumping on top of me on every fourth down, so fuck it, I'm gettin' drunk and rooting for my brother while partying shirtless with Taylor Swift."

He is absolutely living his best life.

I was 70% pleased with the Niners/Packers outcome. The Packers are my team (and I'm an owner), but as young as we are, we got two games further into the postseason than I expected, and we gave a superior team the fight of their whole season. Unfortunately our kicker is... the worst kicker in the league this season, and also while our quarterback is coming around quickly, he still chooses to make the inexplicably bad throws (Note to Jordan Love: Dre Greenlaw is not a valid receiver for you. There are echoes here of our regular-season game against the Cowboys, where Dak forgot that Rudy Ford is a Packers player twice in the same game). We also had some great moments, our offensive line came together against a top defense, Keisean Nixon proved again that he's the best kick returner in the league, etc. To get this far and do this well is better than I thought we were going to do, and the Niners are the better team (for now).

I am also rooting for the Lions a bit because Dan Campbell is such a good guy, and the Lions are such a hard-luck story that they feel like a huge underdog (and arguably are).

Disappointed again with the Bills, who seem doomed to play second fiddle in the AFC forever to the Chiefs. I don't dislike the Chiefs, I just think they've won enough, and it would be good for Patrick Mahomes' character to eat some humble pie for a season.

I don't know why I want the Ravens to lose so badly, I have zero investment in them.

Well said.

Green Bay obviously has a very talented team. They embarrassed the #2 Cowboys and nearly did the same to the #1 Niners.

This is not the 1st time that Purdy & the Niners did not play well in bad weather and my guess was that the game would be a lot closer than the 9.5-10 point spread favoring the Niners over the Packers.

The Niners played very poorly for 3 1/2 quarters but got 2 "explosive" TDs -- one on Purdy's arm under pressure and the other on McC's legs by a run up the middle to stay close . Fortunately, Purdy was able to mount a Montana-like drive to score the go ahead TD with only a min or so left on the clock.

Of course, this won't quiet the Purdy haters; nothing will, maybe not even winning the SB. We'll have to see what the haters say, if/when Purdy & the Niners are actually able to do that. 🤷‍♂️

All I can say about Purdy is that he's able to do things that Jimmy G. & Trey Lance couldn't do and is doing things much like Montana did (who, if you watched him play weekly as I did, was NOT perfect either).

People forget that in the NFC Championship game in 1982 when Dwight Clark made the "Catch" -- Montana had 3 INTS before that.

Anyway, the Niners also have a questionable rookie kicker -- Moody from Michigan -- who is curiously inconsistent. Pre-season he was missing everything but he was pretty reliable this season until the last game w/the Rams that didn't count when he missed a PA & 40 yd FG which resulted in the 21-20 loss.

Not sure he can be blamed for his 1st FG miss in the Packers game on him which was blocked, unless there's a reason to believe he should have kicked the ball quicker, but he did kick the 52 yd FG which was became the deciding margin in the game.

Detroit is a better team than the Packers (which is why I was rooting for the Bucs to beat them) and will give the Niners the same problems, even more so, than the Packers did.

Fortunately (for the Niners), there is NO RAIN predicted for this coming Sunday, which should help Purdy hang onto the ball & keep Niner defenders from falling down like they did in the Packers game. ;)

I really love Brock Purdy, he just seems like such a great Cinderella story with a lot of humility and not an ounce of swelled head (looking at you, Patrick from State Farm).

I agree the weather was a big factor, both for the footing of players as a whole (mainly impacting the Niners) and seemingly on Purdy's ability to throw accurately.

However, there was a lot of good news for the Niners as well. This was a great win for them that proved they can still win when things aren't going perfectly - when Deebo is out for most of the game and when they're behind going into the fourth. Brock proved he can put together a game-winning drive under pressure, and that'll be good for his confidence, too. They'll need every bit of it against the Lions and if they win the NFC, they'll need every bit of it and probably some flat-out luck to beat Lamar and the Ravens, who just look like the best team in football by a mile. After all, it's winning the gritty games that proves your team, not the blowouts against teams that belong in NCAA Division III, like Miami against Denver.

Interestingly with the AFC I think the Ravens and the Bills have a lot in common in that the quarterback always seems to be the leading passer, rusher, and scorer. But Lamar is more consistent than Josh and seemingly has a better team behind him to clean up as well.

I'm happy with either NFC team winning the championship and will be rooting hard for them against the AFC.

Not going to turn this into a Purdy "love fest" but his is a "Cinderella story" and he's done incredible things for a "rookie" who has only played 22 regular season games as a starting QB (6-0 last year & 12-4 this year; 18-4 overall) with a 3-1 Post Season record and a 111.4 Career QB Rating so far.

Just saying . . . 🤷‍♂️

I agree that the Ravens appear to be the best team in the NFL, which is why I'm rooting for the Chiefs to knock them off.

I was actually hoping that the Bills would do that because the Niners match up better with them than they do w/the Chiefs but Mahomes & the Chiefs probably have a better chance of beating the Ravens.

A Chiefs/Niners match up in the SB again will be an incredible game IF it happens.

We'll see . . .

Imagine,

You wake up on a beach somewhere, and you dont remember anything.

You have no choice but to trust the ones around you who also woke up with amnesia but have been here longer and have their own issues to deal with.

No need to question anything.

Especially dont question the people who say you need a passport to leave the place you're in.

I mean its not like you're in jail. I mean, why would you wake up with amnesia in a jail that doesnt look like a jail?

Best amnesia story is Knights of the Old Republic.
