SwarthyGnome here is some genuine lignum vitae wood, these three pieces are considered AA "bearing grade" meaning best quality that would have been used for ships wooden ball bearings and similar machinery. I purchased these pieces years ago from a reputable merchant of exotic woods and plan to use all of it to make knife handles. Maybe Nathan the Machinist will agree to make some grips tor a CPK knife for me one day..........

You can see it has basically no end grain, is very waxy and smells divine. It is also one of the densest woods in the world. The knife is a Cypress Creek Knives custom backpacker that Jared made for me from part of the smaller piece. Also below is a custom Great Eastern Cutlery 23 that MuskratMan did for me.
