Ivory is pretty cool.

Elephants are pretty cool too. That said, I don't actually care about elephants. They are unimportant to me. But I cannot fathom the mindset of anyone who would kill an elephant to harvest its ivory. To me, that's like a tweaker doing $2,000 damage to your car stealing your catalytic converter when it's only worth 70 bucks to him. It doesn't math.

Didn't I read that one of the rhino have gone extinct because the Chinese killed them all thinking the horn would make their peckers bigger? That's just stupid.

To answer your question. I would use ivory with absolutely no problem. But I could not condone killing an elephant to harvest that ivory. And, since the ivory trade was leading to the unnecessary and pointless deaths of a lot of elephants, I support the ivory ban.

It does seem stupid and wrong on many levels, but I am viewing the issue from a place of, shall we say, abundance….
