Most sites don't restrict maximum password lengths nowadays, and a simple recommended tactic is to pick different phrases (as always, don't use the same password/phrase on multiple sites) that are unique to the user, and thus easy for the person to remember.

In one of my first Corporate jobs in Marketing, the Director of Design came over and asked me why his password was being rejected by the system. It was literally his 3 letter name and 12345. He said he used it for all his accounts and it was fine everywhere else.

I hate to interrupt your guys fun but this is an important topic to me.
It goes on way too often in my industry. I’m sure my area of work isn’t the only place it’s going on.
I think everybody should take a couple minutes and watch this PSA.
I’m just glad to see it’s finally getting some attention.

what did that wall call him again?

I think many just don’t understand, or naively think that they’re ‘insignificant’ enough to not have to be concerned about being a victim, not realizing that’s EXACTLY why they’re likely to be exploited. In this day and age, there are plenty of third-party apps that will not only generate but store passwords for folks, and most phones and tablets have some means as part of their OS, but they only work if you use them. I urge everyone I know to at least use a strong password generator, like THIS, and use two factor authentication whenever possible.

Protect yourself. No one else is going to do it for you, and it’s really not as tedious as it once was.

Thanks. Appreciate it. It's been a bad couple of days. My eyes are pretty much worn out and brain is more fried than usual.

One thing all of you should do is go to your profile posts / conversations and ensure that you remove any references to your email addresses and / or your cell phone numbers...and of course, your PayPal account info.

Do it now.

Seriously...don't delay.

And if you have a weak password or one that is used elsewhere as well, change it. Don't willingly become a victim.

Okay, I won't harangue you further. I just don't like the bad guys to win. You can help change that.

And while we're on the subject...don't respond to emails from people (purportedly members) without sending a PM to the actual user account to confirm that it was actually from them. This has been a common theme of late in the currently reported woes and gnashing of teeth. Spoofing is real, folks.

Well, the new banner about NOT using PP F&F is a good start! 👍 I would suggest adding some bits about PW security too. And maybe removing personal info in profile posts, etc. But I know that's all up to the big man.
