I was gonna post up a couple really nice ones for sale….dirt cheap. But alas, I can’t attach pics so back in the safe they go. Sometimes it’s cake….and sometimes it’s CoCK. 🤷🏻
There are worthwhile free hosting sites you can use while Spark is working out potential solutions here. (I'm tapped out, so no one has to worry about me scooping anything up.)

do you think that's because people are more susceptible, or because there are more scams? Or some other reason?
I think there's definitely more scams...that I'm aware of. We've had a bunch of attempts from overseas to infiltrate the site, particularly from Nigeria, that we've been warding off the past couple of months. Also some Eastern Europe and the M.E.

But what gets me is that no matter how many times we warn people about the threat, give them advice on what to be aware of etc., they let their greed for what seems to be a good deal get the better of what should be their common sense. And then it's too late because they've fallen prey not only to a huckster, but paid in a manner for which there is generally no recourse to recoup their funds afterward.

(And we end up dealing with this time after time after time. Just check the "feedback" section over the past weeks.)

Even after I had Spark put up the banner and the "best practices" info, people still either blow by it, or ignore it until it's too late. Then they post about their experience as if there hadn't been a warning issued for exactly what they fell prey to.

I’m prepared to eat the consequences if I make a bad purchase decision, and will only alert the mods if someone needs to know about a scam. But I won’t whine and complain about it.

A lot of people don’t have receipts for items that they’ve traded for or bought a long time ago, and don’t want to have to come up with some way to deal with a 1099 from PayPal the following year, where they have to prove that they were not profiting from their sales. I understand that.

That does not mean that sometimes I’m not going to insist on Goods and Services and pay extra to cover their fees. But if I feel comfortable enough with seller or the circumstances, I may still consider friends and family.

I sent the following to a buyer this morning;

the peace of mind selling as a merchant on paypal is worth the 4% they charge. I owned/operated a brick and mortar retail/service business and know that the cost the credit card companies charge to process the transaction is roughly equivalent to what paypal charges. It's cool they offer free processing for friends and family transfers, but people take advantage of it for sales use. I'm hearing that lots of people are getting scammed in the classifieds here because the seller isn't willing to absorb the cost of processing, which just puts the buyer in a potentially really shitty situation- at best. At worst, the buyer just sent a friends and family payment to someone as far as paypal is concerned- caveat emptor
