ok. is the ''space'' can of can of worms open?

this feels like they're telling earth bound observers to not hope for too much

I certainly hope not. (But defer to Nathan and Jo.)

exactly- these eclipses are pretty rare, so Tanto's- erm... ritual... for this day isn't so easily describable as his standard weekly routines. But, you can make a safe bet that if it were describable, that knowledge would be so horrendous that even an inkling would blast your soul into the void.

Finally crossed it off the bucket list, after all these decades on the planet.

A full solar eclipse compared to a partial, is like a 16oz Prime Rib cooked to perfection, vs gas station ’beef sticks’.

I was outside during the 2017 partial. Forgot to set an alarm, and never noticed the difference from cloud cover.

Even if I’d been unaware of this one ahead of time, it would’ve been impossible not to notice it, inside the path of totality. Tried taking video from 30-60 seconds prior. The automatic brightness compensation pretty much eliminated the effect of the world darkening.

Phone pics didn’t come out very well.IMG_1070.jpegIMG_1063.jpeg

Yep, I was in an ideal spot in 2017. This time it only reached 89% here which might as well be nothing. Just dimmed slightly for a few minutes.

How should I treat myself after a long day moving rock??? A nice thick ribeye sounds great! 🤗

Pull grill out of the garage to preheat ... tank empty. Thats ok ... I have a few spares. All empty too. F me!!! 🤬 Look to my left and see the gas fire pit - raid its tank. All good now. 😋

It's going to be a tasty dinner after all! 👍🏼

Almost total cloud cover, here. Best I could manage…

The skies yesterday were immaculate, pristine, unbroken blue. Even last night before I went to bed it was starry and devoid of haze.

Impenetrable battleship grey today, right through the eclipse, with only the slightest breaks as I’ve demonstrated above, then 45 minutes afterwards the skies cleared.

Goddamnit.
