I should really check the status of that interest free loan that I gave the united states treasury last year
I owed them this year...usually I overpay.

NC on the other hand is taking its sweet time giving me back what is owed. Last year they took over three months to refund. Seems it will be about the same this year.

Gonna start underpaying them pretty soon.

The running gag here is based on a joke about something that Bob Loveless said, which is that a knive handle should be as comfortable in your hand as if you were holding your own dick. That is actually something the late and great Mr Loveless once said.

Looking at some of the handle designs that Lorien has come up with, we have determined he is uncircumcised.

The handle for the K18 is clearly not the work of one of the white guys in the shop...

I am curious about your design process. I was intrigued by your shiv video years ago, got the UF a couple years back because I didn’t know if the 8” shiv would ever return. Well, now I have both and I see that the blade and handle resemblance between the two are strong the differences are significant. The blade geometry especially is totally different.

I haven’t seen handle designs like this elsewhere, and that seems strange given how well they seem to work, suiting a variety of grips, etc. How did you come up with this, was there a model you liked and modified, did you go through lots of prototypes to evolve to what we see now? Do you utilize feedback from users in the field or people in knife competitions?

Thanks

I'd loan you my emotional support Shiv...but then...what if...what if...what if I were to need it?

OMG!!!
I offered to let my Wife use the emotional support Shiv the other night. I should’ve thought more before offering since the reason that she probably needed it was my normal B.S. but, I’m a decent husband and was FAIRLY certain that she wouldn’t return it by burying it in my flesh.
After more thought, I’m not offering it to her, or anyone else again. It can only be an emotional support to one person at a time and someone else having it makes ME need it that much more.

Nathan posted somewhere about the shiv handle development, I think he smushed some kind of sculpting clay on the tang and handled the knife and squeezed it and tossed it back and forth between his hands and stuff and shaped the handle that way, and the UF is a slimmed down shiv handle

Goes double for my wife of Sicilian blood. Handing a blade to her is like asking to be run through.

(Even though it's her birthday, there are no blades among her gifts. It's hard enough to sleep with one eye open.)

I learned a similar lesson last month. Never let a non-knife person use one of your good knives. My wife said, "Gimme your knife!" so that she could cut some green onions from my mother-in-law's vegetable garden. What followed was a scream of, "Owwwww! Why's it so sharp?!?!?" after she nicked herself with my JV Striker followed by her promptly dropping it in the dirt.

Meant to post this the other night: intelligence is knowing you shouldn’t use a nice knife on a metal pan. Wisdom is know it’s the wrong time to remind your wife of that.
