My wife and I weren't all that impressed with the RAO's sauce. (Nor another expensive sauce using "Arthur Avenue" in the Bronx in its name.)
I thought one or two of their microwave dishes were decent when we were without a stove for a few weeks.

Oddly enough, I prefer the meat sauce from Ragu', (which my wife seasons on her own), to any of the expensive boutique sauces in the supermarket.

Arthur Avenue is famous for being an Italian neighborhood in the Bronx where there are a lot of shops selling sauce, meats, breads, cheeses, pasta etc.
My mother grew up a few blocks from there in the 41st Precinct and my Sicilian grandfather would take her to those shops as a child during the Depression, before it became all trendy...when it was full of neighborhood stores and shops instead of boutiques.

(None of which is to say that your impression of the sauce isn't correct. It's all personal when it comes to taste.)
I grew up on the Ragu or Prego sauce. I’m pretty sure that it’s the Ragu but for some reason my brain is incapable of remembering which one and I seriously have to turn the jars sideways at the store everytime I buy it to see which one is thicker- I hate thin spaghetti sauce. We usually reserve the RAO’s for better meals and use the other stuff for the weekday home made hamburger helper style meals.
I was able to visit NY once when my Wife was there for work, had dinner at that restaurant, it was a nice experience.
I’d love to see NY outside of the City but I don’t think I’d like to go to the City again anytime soon. The older I get the less I like big Cities and crowded places, which is the definition of NYC.
Plus, I hate going places that won’t allow me to carry PPE.
Thanks for sharing your ties to the City, mine are to Detroit, which is another place that I don’t like to visit very often anymore.

I like to make my own tomato sauce with meat. My secret is to heavily brown half the ground meat for flavor and cook the other half in the sauce for a softer texture. Also I like to put cilantro in the sauce instead of basil. Lastly, green olives with their brine is an essential ingredient. Sacrilege I know. It's basically a tomato sauce with the flavors of a picadillo.

This is good stuff...(but not on spaghetti and meatballs). I've found it really helped my dog when he had some issues.

Same, one of my dogs has a very sensitive stomach and fortiflora clears her up quickly whenever there's an issue. I also give her a little Metamucil for humans with every meal pro-actively, but you have to find the non-orange-flavored stuff. Dogs don't like orange.

My friend told me about this! Maybe we have to give it a shot.

Any chance your dog is on a raw diet?
No. I did switch him the same day from Purina Pro-Plan (Large Dog) Chicken & Rice, to Hills' Science Diet "Sensitive Stomach & Skin", (Chicken & Barley), to see if it would work in tandem.

It's been over three weeks now without a single episode of unwanted emissions from either end.

I'm convinced it has made a difference. But since I switched both at the same time, I can't assign a percentage of one vs. the other in terms of impact.

Another thing...purely anecdotal.

My dog had really bad breath and occasional body odor...the b.o. not really too bad...since switching, his breath isn't offensive and no b.o. to speak of.

He loves the food, (but he loved the other stuff too,) and his coat is looking super.

Science Diet is more expensive, but at this point, I don't give a rat's. The dog seems to thrive on it. (And it smells much, much better than the Purina. Like something you could eat.)

Sample of one...but an honest one.

(Over the past 20 years I've used Wellness, Taste of the Wild, Purina Pro-Plan and now Science Diet.)

If you want to help with your dog's bad breath, I can't recommend Science Diet Oral Care highly enough. We supplement whatever food the dog gets with some of it.

It's consistently been all my dog's favorite food. Even our tiny dogs eat it and love it.

When I took my Olde English bulldog to the vet to have his teeth cleaned, they said he didn't need it. The oral care good did such a good job. I hadn't had his teeth cleaned for a year.
