He looks terrified, or dead with eyes open. Eyes too clear to be dead? Scary ride for him if you don't make him clear out...

Over the last few years my 2013 Subaru had been costing me more than I had wanted in terms of repairs.
It recently started making some noises and I took it in to the mechanic and they told me it would need more costly repairs.
I said Nope. Taking it to Carmax.
Removed the car seats, a once over with the vacuum, and a wet cloth and ended up walking away with about a third of the purchase price.
Carmax made it easy, honestly my car was in good shape in terms of mileage (<100,000), and seeing as the majority of repairs were up to date.
Now … probably looking to buy a toyota hybrid. Not my first choice but these children are expensive and I need an economical vehicle.

What does lip balm have to do with buying cars?

I set a trap up on top of the motor cover, there must've been some death throes going on for this little bastard to end up where he did. I screwed a small brass hook to the end of a piece of dowel to extricate. Just glad I was able to get it out of there!

I’m not ashamed to say that I would be a pussy about dealing with this, so I’m gonna call you next time if it happens to us 😭☠️

We're 10 years into solar...been a love-hate relationship. But some of that is because the company we went through went out of business a couple years after, so we've had to deal with various things ourselves instead of being able to hit the easy button. Things are good right now though, knock on wood...

The prices quoted for installed setups makes me balk.

If someone has the ability and willingness to DIY, it definitely makes it a lot more attractive. For instance, if you had the space for them (the panels I mentioned are 73"x40"), someone could get 50 panels for a maximum output of 18,000 watts (real world output is of course, generally always less), for ~$5k, or 100 panels for a theoretical maximum output of 36,000 watts for ~$10k.

Installers charge quite a bit more.

Yeah, we bought ours, and it seems that a few years later the big thing was leasing instead. Was a chunk of money (which we financed and paid off last year), but the state and fed tax rebates at the time (no idea what's offered now) reduced it by almost 35%. We also sell SRECs, which over the last 10 years has been a bit more than half of the amount we financed.

So all said and done, we basically paid our regular electric bill (maybe just a bit more) for 9 years, and now the rest is gravy. But factor in some service visits, and that the inverter will most likely need to be replaced soon, and that replacing the roof will be more complicated and therefore more expensive when the time comes, and that gravy takes a hit. But overall we should still come out ahead.
