The prices quoted for installed setups makes me balk.

If someone has the ability and willingness to DIY, it definitely makes it a lot more attractive. For instance, if you had the space for them (the panels I mentioned are 73"x40"), someone could get 50 panels for a maximum output of 18,000 watts (real world output is of course, generally always less), for ~$5k, or 100 panels for a theoretical maximum output of 36,000 watts for ~$10k.

Installers charge quite a bit more.
I had a few quotes about 2 years ago for Solar.
Best price was $58,000 for straight solar with no batteries. They wanted $85k with two 10,000 watt batteries.
I found the price to be ridiculous and was a bit confused about how they wanted to put panels all over the side of my house that faces away from the Sun just so that they could say that the system was large enough to cover our needs. I’m sure those panels would’ve been working at peak efficiency here in Michigan.
Bluemax, that solar powered mini split is an interesting idea. Thank you. I’m going to look into that to offset how much we run our standard unit.

I might of found my boy a snowmobile. I am going to go look it over tomorrow. Drove pass it today and it’s got a sign on it that says free, electrical gremlins but runs good. I’m going to go look it over real good tomorrow. It’s an early 90s Polaris Indy.

Is your Aquis a 400 calibre? Excellent taste regardless. 🍻

It's Caliber 733-1, which is a lower level movement but still very good - in 19.9 straight days of wearing it I checked it this AM and it's averaged exactly 5.0 sec/day fast. Still within COSC Specifications for a Swiss Chronometer.

My Rolex DSSD D-Blu that I switched to today, for our 3-day holiday in Estes Park CO, has been gaining 2 sec/day on the winder for the past 3 weeks.

These Oris are a good bang for the buck, like Tudor used to be. I also have a 2017 Oris Diver 65 Automatic "Movember Edition" Limited Edition (actual pics), and a Oris Propilot Big Crown Big Date with the 751 Caliber (stock photo).

Polaris sleds and atv’s are known for electrical issues. Great thing is you can get them cheap and still find parts/harnesses either online aftermarket or used. I bet you have a salvage yard near by. Will be great to troubleshoot and fix with your boy so he learns while having time together. I hope it works iut.

Our garbage disposal died (over 15 yrs old) while I was away at the cabin so I tried to find the same model in town. HD, Lowes and Ace could all order it but would take a few days. Then I realized HD carried Insinkerator Badger’s with numbers different from the manufacture. Ex: they carry Badger 100 and 500 vs Badger 1 and 5. Turns out to be identical to the single numbered ones but made for HD- and in stock. Went and picked one up, installed the electric cor, replaced tailpiece that somehow was oblong vs round- and got it running smoothly.

Tonight getting ready to go to bed and my wife says ‘the washer is leaking’. The vent spewed water all over. I stupidly forgot to smack the knockout plug prior to connecting to the vent. Easy fix with tap on a screwdriver and fishing out the seal- got to eat some humble pie.🤣

It occurred to me that my kids are riding the same carnival rides as I did. Not the same kinds of rides but, literally, machines that have been around since before I was born. These are machines built by men three or more generations prior. When I look at the carnies manning the rides and their silly, blameless carny faces and wonder if carnies are maintaining these machines and I wonder what I’d do if my kids got decapitated or impaled inside of a falling upside down car thingy I feel kind of like, huh.
My oldest Son ( 16 ) just almost fell out of a ride at the fair when it made the loop and the shoulder harness ( bent U shaped metal ) released while he was upside down.
Thankfully the kid is in powerlifting and is pretty damn strong. He was able to hold himself in the seat until the end of the ride but he said that it took all that he had.
What would I do? Can’t be written down here. Almost had to find out.
No concern over the incident from the employees at the fair=no more carnival rides.

We were at Darien Lake, NY, when our granddaughters were younger.
They, with my wife, were waiting to go on the giant swing. For me, AKA Swing of Death. I didn’t even like watching this thing. Anyway…
The people on the swing hit a seagull with one of the cables.
Swing shutdown. All the cables were lowered & inspected..by a guy..who was maybe 18.
Cables were pronounced AOK, by a guy..who was maybe 18.
Two groups before my loved ones gave up, which put my family 1st.
They went, they lived through it. I almost didn’t.
