Random Thought Thread

Won what, KoD? The eventual winner was the shorter skinnier guy who did not even finish Knife Fight by getting stuck at the ratchets, but he managed to beat out Obi-Wan Kenobi who evidently had thought that moving at a snail's pace was the special winning secret sauce, despite being a very accurate contestant!

I didn't even bother to bump the KoD thread by posting g in it because it seems that we've lost interest! I mean still nosing of Jonny (Bravo) and no Austin (Brian77's son).

Thanks. I just realized that I posted my question in the wrong thread. I have an excuse. I'm an old fart.

Last night's show was kind of ho-hum, but two competitors actually chopped the ice blocks in the correct order. :D

I’m 195 pages 3,881 posts through the “Photos! Post your CPK photos here!” thread. I
started 2 days ago and feel like it’s a bit of a CPK history lesson as well as getting to know many of your personalities better ;)

It’s also a great pastime while you are waiting for knives to arrive!!!

Worthy of a good read, going to finish the book today. ;) (That is till more pages are added)

I’ve done the same. Love the eye candy.

Enough of greeting folks with the phrase: Namaste!

Say that if you want to impress a hot and gullible yogini type, but keep addressing me that way and I may go all out Ashtanga on your ass!

Waiting for the Knife or Death mug.

I was watching broadcast nat'l news and it was a featured story, mentioning Mooresville. Otherwise, I never would have known. Lately, I've been concentrating on the fires around here. I once lived in Agoura Hills, Ca on Lake Lindero, which fortunately avoided the major brunt of the fire that went through there. Only about four miles from Westlake Village then Thousand Oaks. Malibu is on the ocean side of the Santa Monica Mountains and to the east, on the eastern side of the mountains, is Agoura Hills and Calabasas. Nothing but a huge tinder box ready to go - and it sho' did.

At one point, in the mountains, it spread 8 miles within 15 seconds.

Damn Bob, that last part, is that accurate?

That is a rate of 1920 miles per hour or Mach 2.5. I am having trouble wrapping my head around that.

That is accurate. It is more akin to an explosion that starts at one point and ends 8 miles later. I've seen it happen. It's like a huge whoosh but instead a roar. When you have a long stretch of bone dry kindling, ie, highly combustible fluff, 65 mph(+) winds, ignition through a large area can be much closer to instantaneous than be defined by a measure of speed.

Hey, maybe it was 20 seconds, not 15. But guarantee you what I saw over that 8 mi stretch happened in close to an instant.

And I am even willing to double that number to 40 seconds and allow you the pleasure of calling out a "Bob-ism" whenever you see one:D
