Random Thought Thread

I haven't paid attention to this fight nor Jake Paul in general. My dad was ahige fan of the sport and I grew up watching every match that was televised. I tagged along to the Golden Gloves with dad more times than I could count, but boxing just hasn't been the same for years.

The only things I've heard about Jake Paul haven't been flattering and although he had emense talent Tyson wouldn't make my best of lists at all, but I have turned the fight on out of shear curiosity.

They’re trying to mitigate the potential damage inflicted, but I can tell you from experience, it’s not hard to KO someone while wearing 16oz gloves, and that was when I fought at 198lbs. These guys weighed in at ~228lbs?

Out of curiosity, I looked at footage of the Jake Paul vs Mike Perry fight. While JP isn’t a particularly polished fighter, he’s definitely had training. If he doesn’t get careless, it’s going to be an uphill battle for Mike because of that gas tank.

From what I saw, Mike is down on speed, power and stamina, enough that JP could potentially just cover and wait for Mike to gas out (i.e. rope-a-dope).

Fighters couldn’t do that with Mike back in the day, because he hit so hard, and he’d just keep pounding until they crumpled, but he doesn’t have that overwhelming edge in power now, nor the gas tank to keep hammering away.

What did Paul Walker accomplish that Betty White never did?

He hit 100 before he died.
