What clear are you spraying, specifically, that’ll hold up to abuse that guitar bodies usually see? Do you spray HVLP?

Will having that many layers cause problems with durability, or does it go on pretty thin?

My favorite clear gun for production work is a SATA 5000 RP with a 1.3 needle and fluid cap (silver) i also use a SATA 5500 RP with an I cap and 1.2 needle and fluid cap (gives really nice results but is slower)

You generally do not want to build layers of clear like this bad things can happen... solvent issues (trapping it, can lead to small bubbles, adhesion problems, die back, etc) and too much clear can even cause it to crack

In this case I'm using the clear almost as a filler that I can sand down and create a flat smooth layer of the final 2 coats of clear (I'll be sanding a LOT off!)

I was getting there. Also wanted to know about cure times/temps, leveling properties…

I have spray temps set at 78 degrees in all 3 of my booths .. I wait 10 minutes between the first and second coat , after the second coat I wait 2 minutes before I press the cure button on my booths (there's a built in 3 minute purge timer ) I think this clear needs a little longer of a purge than what I've previously used

Cure is 165 degrees for 15 minutes and a 3 minute cool down

It’s the curing requirements that make it outside of my use capabilities. Not having the ability to control temps like your spray booth allows rules it out, without serious investment.

For some reason, that didn’t insert the quote from you, yoko yoko

Not that you wouldn’t have figured out this was a reply to you… 🤣

If you ever want some help with something I'd be more than happy too!

I like doing things out of my norm

Oh wow I didn’t realize that. I thought I remembered it being one or two years. I’ll shoot them an email.
I have an Arkfeld that won't charge and won't turn on. Went through the website and did the warranty process yesterday. They shipped me a new light within 15 minutes.

I do have to ship the defective flight back to them when I receive the new light. I did the same for a Warrior X that died a few years ago and they sent me a new one.
might have to give them a shot again
While I hate that they're a Chinese company, they're actually innovating and pushing the envelope. Some of their new products are goofy as hell, but they're willing to take risks and try new things. I definitely prefer the warmer white options when they're available though.

Yoko- I don’t know squat about guitars, but it it is amazing looking. I have a question that may seem stupid. Will the sound be affected by the amount of paint/clear coats?

Thank you and I have no idea lol
The finish on guitars does affect the sound. If the coatings are too hard they can mute the vibrations of the wood, which affects the tone and the length notes may sustain.

Gibson guitars used to use (no idea if they still do or not) a nitro-cellulose lacquer that supposedly thins as the guitar ages. This causes the guitar to have higher resonance and can increase the sustain.

Random thought for the day...

Speaking from a disadvantage here because I've not experienced other iterations of the EDC...but if any other can surpass the EDC 2 in hand...it's magic, witchcraft and sorcery. Dare I say, proof of the dark arts...

I wish every knife felt like that in hand...but I'll admit it doesn't make a great neck knife.

That is all.

Oh man..... my friends forget about the fight tonight......

So you know what day it is?????????????¿

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!

WE MADE IT ANOTHER WEEK!!!!!!

reach out to a friend , ask them how they're doing and tell them "HAPPY FRIDAY!"

I hope you had a great week and if you didn't I hope things get better quickly!

Enjoy an adult beverage and high five the nearest person to you!!!!

I'm glad the handle isn't changing with the newest iteration, but I am glad it's getting a more pointed tip! That's always been my only real complaint. Just thinking out loud here, but it might make a better necker without the scales. 🤔

Happy Friday!!! I have a 4-pack of Dragon's Milk and a 6-pack of Odell Drumroll Hazy IPA that was gifted to me today (because I'm awesome ;), at least that's what I was told haha) sitting here at my desk. If they were cold, I'd crack one right now!!! :D

hear hear ... 🍻

I will say I almost skipped the EDC 1.2 because of how fond I am of the EDC 2. And though the handle scales are identical and I haven't put a caliper on it yet, but it may be slightly thinner overall with the thinner blade stock ... I absolutely love the subtle blade change on the 1.2 so I'll have to see how I feel after more use.

There's been an EDC 2 on my belt most days for several years so unseating it won't be a small task.
They live up to their moniker without a doubt.
