Got a new hunting blind and some bear load for my .40. Wasn’t aware that was even a thing. That’s for backup though, Mr Yogi will be getting some 12 gauge slugs.

600 foot pounds, in a flat nose hard cast, should make a black bear stop whatever it's doing that's bothering you.

Not trying to be rude, but that is awfully fast /heavy for that length barrel in a .40 S&W. If it is from a legit source, I would fire some rounds to see how it handles/functions. If it is from someone handloading, I would avoid it. Buffalo Bore 180 +P ‘outdoors’ loads in barrel that length are slower.

I have blown up 2 handguns with ‘hot loads’ from other people in the past, so I am cautious.

Still quite hot. Nathan was likely laughing because of his .45 cal super mag flinging heavy lead fast.

If you are in bear country you only need .22lr. Always have a friend with you. If a bear is near, pop the friend in the knee with a .22lr and run like hell. Probably solved. But that's just me. I'm the kind of guy that brings a neck knife to a gun fight.
