Not being a lawyer, I’d have to side with this take. I’m not ever deliberately out to kill anyone, even to defend myself or loved ones from death or grievous injury.

What I AM aiming to do, is to stop a deadly threat as effectively and rapidly as possible. It just so happens that the level of trauma usually incurred by the most rapidly effective methods, tend to be difficult for the human body to cope with, but killing isn’t primary the goal/intent.

Publicly stating that your goal is to kill, potentially can and will be used against you.

Or an actual thing. As I understand it court can order your vpn provider to hand over logs and decrypt your traffic.
