Good on you for looking after your mom. Stay well!Just a "random" thought...
When COVID rolled-around, I had been taking care of a VERY sick lady (*my Mom) for about seven years. Being isolated and secluded was nothing for us. Beyond that, I was still tasked with going out into the World for our basic needs. How I never brought that shit home is still a miracle that I wrestle with.
But here's the random thought...
Around Thanksgiving of this year, a few weeks back, I managed to become afflicted with some respiratory virus that is running rampant here around South Texas (*San Antone). Within the first week, I was hoping for death...and was pretty sure that I would get there.
At 54 years of age, and even after suffering with acute and chronic Asthma as a child, I believe that I'm beginning to understand the gravity of some of these respiratory illnesses as I age. It's been "eye opening", to say the least.
Just a stupid post. Carry on.
Wasn’t there a Stephen King story along these lines?Been a weird week hope all of you are doing great!
I was gifted some skunked beer...... so I'm fighting my way through it cause I won't throw it away hahahaha
Every drink is followed by a head turn and a "gahhhhhh" sound lol

F YESI have a twin brother, Jonathan.
He and I went to NC State together in the '90s
He worked at a French cafe.
He brought home some beer from there. Grolsch. I still can't drink it to this day.
So anyway, we were college kids so money was tight and he had brought home this nice beer that was in our refrigerator and, without asking, I grabbed one and was drinking it and it was terrible.
Fucking terrible.
But I would be damned if I was going to pour out this fancy beer that Jonathan had brought home just because I didn't like it so I forced my way through it. Every drop. But it was terrible. TERRIBLE.
The next day he asked about it. He said did you drink that beer!?
I admitted I had
He said: "Damn! That beer was skunked as hell? My boss gave it to me and said if any of it was any good to drink it but they were just going to throw it out...
I can't even stand to look at it anymore...
Good on you for looking after your mom. Stay well!
I left that area in ‘96 and still miss the food.
Thanks, Brother.
John Garcia and I graduated from "Central Catholic High School", here in San Antone, in 1989.
I've been eating at "Garcia's Mexican Food To Go" (*or "Garcia's Mexican Food", as it is now known) for almost three decades. The Garcia Family just got recognition in the prestigious "Michelin Guide"...

I may be taking my family down there for a school trip this coming summer. May have to drop by and try it - or I’m just craving Mexican food right now.
Last time we were there, we ate at Rosario’s just south of the river walk. It was pretty good.
Long live class of 89!
That’s awesome. Appreciate the history and will definitely eat at Garcia’s.When I post this, you have to understand that, for many years, San Antonio was just a "big, small town". Many of us locals are "Natives". Our Family roots go back to before Texas was even a Republic or a State in the Union...
"Lisa Wong" owns Rosario's. Her nephew, "Mike Teran" graduated right next to John Garcia and I, in the "Central Catholic" class of '89. (Yes, seriously) Mike was the head bartender there, for many years.
Rosario's food is excellent "Mexican" fare. "Garcia's" is more of a staple of the "Tex-Mex" food that I grew-up eating.
Either way, YES, you should do yourself the favor of stopping-by John's family restaurant. You won't be disappointed.![]()
