What? I thought they cancelled taxes.
only if you store all your money in stocks, then borrow against their value with low interest loans- no tax on loans! Then change residence to a low tax state when you wanna free up some cash and sell a bunch of shares. The more you make, the less you pay!

Sounds like Lorien Lorien has experience. I wondered where all the money went… 🤣

**writes furiously** ...stocks....against...their....value....

yeah I posted that after leaving the eye doctor where they give you free consultations and the doctor told me that short of actual eye surgery I'm wearing lenses for life
Sorry to hear that, yo. If it's any consolation, I'm a lifer too.
Also, everyone I know who has had Lasik said that it was among the best things they have done.
Please don't let it bother you too much. I'm in a field where I see terrible things and realize we have to appreciate every ounce of health we have.

I talk to two different eye doctors about LASIK. Both told me my up close vision would get worse, but everything would be better (old and nearsighted). I'm also scared of being the small fraction that would get permanent dry eyes.

The other red flag? I asked both if they would personally get LASIK. They both said no. 🤪

I COMPLETELY agree about this regarding the risks, but it’s funny to me that the folks I know who got Lasik are doctors (in other fields). “Keep work at work” huh?

Always, always ask this question even for even smallest thing.

Funny...I'm going for an eye exam tomorrow. I haven't been in many years...but want to make sure I don't have to back to the DMV when I get my license renewed next month.

I only wear 1.25x cheaters for the laptop or reading on the iPhone...no other glasses, but I know I have a touch of astigmatism and have for decades, though it never has been an issue with shooting, driving, or any other thing. (But it would be just my luck to fail while looking through the apparatus they use at the DMV.)

Wonder if she'll recommend glasses, bifocals, trifocals or whatever? I don't mind wearing them, if so. In any case, I'd be deathly afraid of going under the knife or laser for any elective eye surgery...and don't think I'd do so without kicking and screaming.

Started wearing glasses in 2nd grade (nearsighted), and switched to contacts in 9th I think. Haven't checked in a while, but my vision was/is too bad for lasik. They could do it, but I'd still need contacts (just in a lower prescription), so why bother? Other option would be implantable lenses, but haven't really looked into that. One issue I have is that my eyes dilate more than normal, so can dilate beyond the corrective portion of lenses if they aren't large enough, which can cause seeing "halos" when it's dark.

I may borrow against my CPK collection to buy more CPKs. As the equity in my collection grows, my lending ratio increases as well. As long as I place top ten in every Friday sale, I'll never have to "pay" for another CPK ever again, only interest that I can defer by withdrawaling more from the portfolio growth. That's my theory anyway. Now, who wants to loan me money at 2% with a signed promissory note against my knives?
