Look into a bat box. Skeeter population should go down if you install one properly.
I have read about the ideal boxes. We have quite a few owls and goshawks around the cabin which would deter bats from using one (from what fish&game here says). In the 12 years we have had the property, I have never seen a bat. I used to enjoy watching them above our pond in the evening in Texas.

We are planning to sell our place and move, but if the property doesn’t sell this summer, I should consider putting one up. Nothing to lose but a little time/materials.

One of my co-worker's wife in MUC got Lyme disease two months ago. Here dentist liked that she was on antibiotics already, so he extracted 3 wisdom teeth while she was healing ....

Fortunately here, it's too high for that stuff.

That being said .....

I don't know ... maybe time to change the subject, to something more pleasant - like - politics or something ? :)

Yummy!

Man, chiggers are the worst - make you itch so bad you'll consider skivving off the top layer of your skin. The only cure I've found for them is to scratch the affected area (usually the lower legs), then liberally wipe down with nail polish remover with a high acetone content. The acetone kills the bugs, probably kills some nerve endings, and has a nice, soothing, cooling effect once the burning feeling stops.

As for skeeters, the worst I have ever encountered were on a canoe trip in Manitoba in July. The suckers were the size of a nickel and hunted in swarms. They drilled right through two layers of fishing shirts and purportedly mosquito-repellent spandex under shirts. Deet didn't seem to have any effect on them. Luckily, I found one solution that at least meted out some retribution:

Sorry, just now jumping in. I must have been cursed. Never had chiggers anywhere but the groin. I would take oatmeal baths but it never helped. Scratching like a dog was the only way…

What was the next topic, politics??

I read an account once, that genuinely piqued my interest.

A guy was recounting how he got a mosquito bite on the little head, while taking a dump in the woods.

You know how it feels really good to scratch a maddening itch? He said the combination of sensations while having sex, was the most amazing thing ever 😂

Made me genuinely curious, but I figured, with my luck, I’d probably find the mosquito with West Nile or something, deliberately trying that.

Tailgate wet sanded and buffed....

.... makes me smile!
Are you wet sanding with a block or orbital? 1000-2000 grit? I never pursued the final sanding to the 4runner after girlfriend's dad painted it. There are a tiny few occasional runs or lint/dust and it never bothered me too much. Just wondering in case I want to ever really want to make her sing.

The paint job layed out nicely..... I rarely ever get runs in paint jobs but yes there's always a chance for debris

I have a weird routine on everything I paint (I even time myself on all steps lol)... all my steps minimize me having to buff after I paint something so I can keep pushing cars through the booths and not have to touch them afterwords (this is a whole different animal that itches the scratch of work i did when I first started doing this job and was lucky enough to work on a lot of custom vehicles)

Also it's cool I'm getting a chance to show my younger friends "how things were done back in the day" lol

Hand sanding is the key .... I'll start at 1200 always using some sort of block and lots of water working in squares if that makes sense , you can feel and see when the paper has done it's job (always make sure there isn't stray debris grinding and scratching into the paint)

Move onto 2000 grit... repeat

Move onto 2500 grit.... repeat

At 3000 and 5000 I'll move to 3m wet d/a paper

Then buff and polish

trevitrace trevitrace I don't remember where you are located but if it's close enough to visit me I'll be more than happy to help you out and help you buff out your 4 runner!
