We had a lighting strike hit the barn a month ago. Blew out the cameras. 1 garage door opener. It spot welded the opener antenna little wire to a steel beam. Came through the phone line into the house. Blew 2' diameter hole in the vinyl siding where the phone box was mounted. Blew up all the landline connected devices. Plugs came apart and pcs littered the floor. Took out our thermostat on the wall. 4th time we got hit in 20 years. I am tired of it.These lightning strikes can come in the house through things like coaxial cable and phone lines and follow the ground out.
Things like long RS-232 cables can pick up enough induced current to fry sensitive electronics without even being directly contacted by the actual lightning strike, just by being in the immediate area.
Goodness I would guess so.We had a lighting strike hit the barn a month ago. Blew out the cameras. 1 garage door opener. It spot welded the opener antenna little wire to a steel beam. I think I might consider a tall flagpole/lightning rod near the house in the hopes that any strikes would hit that instead (closest strike I’ve been near was a tree in the front yard getting struck when I was a kid).We had a lighting strike hit the barn a month ago. Similar crazy weather here as well. Was almost 100 earlier this month, followed up by a week of cold and rainy where we got 7 or 8 inches. (A lot for around here!)82 out already. What the hell is going on? 62 with 85% chance of rain tomorrow. Got the lawn mowed this morning and started washing the trucks, gave up because the pollen is flying faster then I can pressure wash it off.![]()
That is very true. I swear every week I have at least 2 new projects I need to get done on the damn house or yard.Just my luck. I finish trimming all the damn hedges today and while I'm admiring my work I notice an issue on the roof, along the area where the porch roof goes up to join the main roof, where some fascia trim is hanging off and there appear to be a couple of gaps where weather, animals or insects can intrude.
I think this must've been a result of recent storms, or the recent earthquake tremors that made the roof sound like something heavy was running along it. I don't think I would have missed it for any length of time.
Shit never ends.
E- after discovering a boatload of wasps with a huge nest residing where fascia board had become loose, I think I might shoot some spray in there before trying to nail it back in place. Full disclosure I noticed a few wasps around but then peeked inside the opening I found while wearing a headlamp. I think the wasps decided the light was a target
I hope you got the 4000.Yesterday I got an adjustable grinder spanner wrench delivered in a package that would have protected glass ornaments. Today I got a NOCO charger delivered in a paper bag….![]()
