Random Thought Thread

I noticed a hornet nest on my house this morning. So I blasted it was Raid while leaning out of the window.
Come the afternoon there are two burly looking wasps either eating what’s left or planning to move in.
So I blast them with Raid while leaning out of the window again, except this time the wind blew some of the spray back onto me.
😞

Man you and wasps just don't mix bro

Too much of a random thought? 😬, stupid stuff pops into my head when I least expect it 🤦‍♂️. I’m not trying to claim it’s a gift , or a super power 🦸‍♂️ by any means 😑. Sometimes it’s a lot funnier to me in my head, before it comes out in text 🤣

Nah.

I was taking enough magnesium that my doctor looked at my blood results and was like, bro you're overdoing it.

It is difficult to predict how much magnesium you're going to absorb. The particulars of the supplement that you use and the way your body incorporates it, there's a enormous difference between the amount you take and the amount you absorb.

I now take a much more modest amount, and have been for years, it is built up to a healthy level

I did a write up on this over on BCUSA a few weeks ago. Idk if we can share links from there?

Long story short, look up transdermal therapy.
I make/spray magnesium chloride on my skin

Great for cramps, blood pressure, sore muscles, stress, and sleep.

Magnesium is better absorbed through our skin, it won't "run" through you that way....

I swear by it

Typical er dose for potassium low enough to be a concern is 40 mEq by mouth. 40 oral plus 40 IV (over at least 2 hours) if someone is clearly having problems (like arrhythmia). A banana has about 10 mEq if I am not wrong. Better eat a really big banana (couple feet or so) or consider putting lite salt on it.

Fun fact, lite salt will make a Geiger counter buzz.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken. 😁

Problem with potassium is that without testing, no one knows if they’re low, but it IS possible to OD on potassium (which is why OTC potassium pills tend to be low doses).

I think that’s why the banana advice is so common; it can help, but the amount is low enough that you can’t really OD on potassium from eating a bunch of bananas.

I'm not a toxicologist, so I'm just looking up stuff on the interwebs. LD50 for potassium chloride I'm finding 190 gms (for a 75 kg kosmonaut) or 4860 mEq. that's a 325 foot long banana (that's what she said). 243 Rx 20 mEq potassium chloride horse pills.

Now I fully admit that you're going to see deleterious effects WAY before LD50, but on the other hand the dumbest kidney is smarter than the smartest intern.

Now IV bolus... That's executing a totally different plan.
