Random Thought Thread

Ok, I had to go digging…

I found this, won’t get more official than from USDA: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/operational-wildlife-activities/feral-swine/distribution

Here’s 2024’s map:

It’s interesting to look at the different maps over the years posted there. Looks like they haven’t been in CO for awhile, no wonder I haven’t heard anything about it.

I thought they would have spread a lot more in recent years, but it seems like they’ve leveled off based on the maps since ~2018.

You’re not kidding. I was shocked at the postcard-like scenery! The color of the river was pretty amazing too!!!
They are MUCH farther than the map unfortunately shows. It’s now open season year around here.

Have not seen one, but they are here and farther up North too.

Destructive critters and devastating for the crops. Reprocductvev like crazy and a total destructive animal.

I’m super glad that there is now an open year round season on them, though it probably will not make a difference on the overall population.

But every bit helps somewhat.

Can't say I'm too surprised. I wonder what the requirements are for the county to be shown on the map? Whereabouts are you, if you don't mind my asking?

I’m upper Midwest. Have not seen one yet, but they are reported even 250 miles to my north.

They are to be shot on sight, year round, no limit.

Super destructive critters and they are so destructive to the farm crops.
