Random Thought Thread

Have you ever thought about how many people, for example, are actually capable of thinking?
AI, on average, is not necessarily different from a solid number of people.
And when AI makes mistakes, it often does so with roughly the same probability as even a reasonably qualified (but not highly qualified) person in their field.
If you think about it from this angle, it actually becomes a bit simpler.

Like, thoughts, opinions, and so on are often just deterministic, rather than a person actually thinking about something and producing their own thought or opinion.
Someone did an experiment with AI where it was given a points system.to.encourage behavior determined by the programmer to be desired.

When given updoots for stuff the AI decided to do and say that stuff more.

When given down doots for stuff it decided against doing and saying that stuff.

If you were to extrapolate this experiment to social media like reddit and Twitter for example where you are given immediate feedback for things you type and show, how many people ''real hoomans'' are socially conditioned by up and down doots?

tinfoil hat timmy tinfoil hat timmy
Nothing special really, just a couple of questions about the Cultural Revolution in China, and about one square, slightly expanding on those questions.
A couple of questions about Mao too 😅
But you know what?
There’s this little trick if the AI doesn’t want to answer your question.
Listen, tell me, how could I accidentally / unintentionally manage to…

Meaning, thank goodness I got to experience the world being awesome before it started to really sucks so bad
AGREED!

You should meet me in person, I'm 99% incapable of deep thought lol

Are you talking about the dead internet theory?
Dude, like 80% of the internet right now is AI-generated, but this situation has been going on for over 10 years already. There are even special bot farms (like mining farms) created specifically to pump out tons of posts and comments that shift public opinion.
Also, a huge amount of content on the internet is subtly shaped by influencing the content creators themselves. So you know what?
In my opinion, the only thing that’s actually still alive on the internet is niche forums.
Everything else is, for the most part, genuinely dead internet — where you can’t even tell a real human from a bot anymore.
Or going back to that…
Prove that a ton of people aren’t just NPCs like in video games 😅

Sooner or later, it’s gonna happen.
We all need to make some money and buy ourselves an island.
But a proper one — themed around knives, beer, and deep thoughts.
We could also talk about habaneros and meat cooked in a forge oven
🤗

I'm staying away from private islands...... I've read stuff goes down on them that can get you in trouble

I have begun to doubt the existence of close to 7 billion people. 😯

(This is a joke coming up, by the way)

Imagine there are 7 billion people on Earth.
Now open Google Maps, zoom in on some random spot.
Shouldn’t there be hundreds of people right there in one frame?
Like at a bus stop in a big city, or on a train station platform?
With 7 billion people, shouldn’t those places be packed with thousands standing shoulder to shoulder?!

Where the hell is everybody?!?!
