Random Thought Thread

I'm inside a building at work .... it's too cold to stand outside waiting for Google and someone to zoom in on me lol
This is a programmed response 😁
Just try to imagine the number 7 billion.
Are they all inside buildings or what?
Even if just a fraction of a percent is literally right now heading to the store, and you look at it on Google Maps — imagine how many people that would actually require to be visible!

(Though in reality, obviously, the vast majority of the world’s population lives in countries where most people don’t even have internet 🤔)

Just jokin

Damn, people who are 40–60 years old — I’m honestly jealous of you.
You got to live through the coolest periods: the birth and early golden age of technology.
Cars becoming normal, the internet appearing, that whole special vibe of the time. (Before everything got ruined.)
Atari was good. NES/Master system was better. SNES/Genesis was the golden age of gaming. Not to mention some of the best music and movies of all time.

Too bad getting old physically sucks.

(This is a joke coming up, by the way)

Imagine there are 7 billion people on Earth.
Now open Google Maps, zoom in on some random spot.
Shouldn’t there be hundreds of people right there in one frame?
Like at a bus stop in a big city, or on a train station platform?
With 7 billion people, shouldn’t those places be packed with thousands standing shoulder to shoulder?!

Where the hell is everybody?!?!
Asking the important questions.

I think we could use the thought experiment of the dead internet theory and zoom that out to real alive people and it would be pretty accurate.

However.

It has been said that each... EACH person on the planet could have 1 acre of land in Texas all to themselves.

Meh. I know about 20 people in real life that I maintain a relationship with and have met at one point or another.

The rest of you are probably A.I.

Maybe I'm not real.

The Wagyu I’ve been seeing lately is getting a little crazy. I mean I get that fat equals flavor and tenderness, but I’d like some actual meat in there too. It seems like it’s going from heavily marbled to just a hunk of tallow. I don’t know how those animals even live long enough to get to butchering size.

Do you like cutting cardboard?
I needed to cut 50 boxes into tiny pieces, like really tiny pieces.
I cut them to keep track of the results of microscopy and sharpening, and also to see how the cutting edge behaves (chipping or changing geometry).
Yeaaaaaaaaaaah...
Even more, I like talking about the fact that I had to do it.
Although, basically, I was doing it just for my personal notes.

Meaning, thank goodness I got to experience the world being awesome before it started to really sucks so bad
If it makes you feel any better, we are likely to get stepped on hardest, by the coming tectonic shift. Too young to retire, too old to ride it through and start over. We’re in trouble. On the other hand we did have Pearl Jam.

Wut?

Texas is pretty big but there's a lot of people in the world. It would probably be a space about 40 ft square. A large room.

I'm lucky that I get to use a knife everyday for work , cardboard , zip ties, thin plastic sheeting, masking paper similar to phone book paper , foam masking tape and regular tape

For my uses a lot of "super steels" do not perform the way I like

I've also noticed tool steels are my favorite to use

D3V ,3V, CRU etc

It's not only holding the edge I like, but the ability to take a quick touch up on a sharpmaker and a strop and get right back to where I want it quickly

(And also survive the often accidental hits against metal I stupidly do)
