Random Thought Thread

Two random thoughts

I knew a guy who had a black belt and got in a street fight against a larger bully/aggressor. Karate guy had a karambit and the larger guy was unarmed. Karate guy cut the big guy's arm but didn't hurt him much and got charged with a felony. I think karambits are stupid.

If you want to engage in tax evasion, or develop a strategy to do so, don’t discuss it in a public forum.
It was more like a ''how do I stop gambling? I like it too much and if I keep doing it it will ruin me''.

Kind of a statement like that.

I really do like paying taxes.

In real life not minecraft even.

Where's the fun in that?

Tax Evasion is illegal and bad. Tax Avoidance is perfectly legal, using current rules to your advantage. Surely everyone was discussing only the latter, right?

Using any potentially deadly weapon (knife, gun, tire iron, baseball bat…), can result in a felony charge/conviction for assault with a deadly weapon.

People should really learn/understand what constitutes self defense vs mutual combat etc.

As for karambits; I’m a fan, but I’ll also say that they are NOT the best choice for anyone without training.
1) someone without training has a higher risk of cutting themselves with a Karambit vs a regular knife
2) without training, most people aren’t going to be effective at stopping an attacker even in a legitimate self defense situation, because Karambits tend to be used more for slashing (although depending on the particular Karambit design/curvature/blade angle to handle etc. some CAN be used to stab effectively).

In the hands of someone who’s trained specifically to use a Karambit, they’re a formidable/scary tool. As with ANY tool; they’re only as effective as the user’s skill with the tool dictates.

It wasn't quite a public forum, but the FTX crooks discussed their shenanigans in a chat named "Wire fraud".

There is absolutely no evidence of this, but I have to believe Sam Bankman-Fried had a post-it note attached to his safe with the combination on it.
I've met some criminal masterminds and dolts during my years in L.E. Each are fun in their own way.
