Random Thought Thread

I did offer help. For example, I can put together links for the encyclopedia, if needed, etc.

Let’s see what AR-Trvlr AR-Trvlr says ? It’s his Baby … as long as CPK is ok with his naming.

I’ve got no particular investment in the names, but it *does* seem to go far beyond the encyclopedia. With the encyclopedia I tried to capture the predominant name/title of however it was discussed and sold as, and those frequently evolved over time. Changing the name, though, means that they won’t align with all of the contemporaneous discussions- I think that changing names could cause far more confusion. It would be easy enough to add a unified nomenclature to each and indicate the other names that had been previously used.

I’ll admit that i have let things slip a bit, but most of the recent knives have been revisiting older patterns so there has been limited patterns that were particularly unique. I also stopped trying to capture the individual sales threads. There have been a lot more and often mixed patterns.

Part of it has been a change in personal focus. My only remaining CPK is one of the OG Field knives, and I got sucked into collecting Buck 110s, 301s, and others….

Roughly $3.50 per gallon for regular here.
I wish.
Wow. Where was that ?
40 miles south of Seattle. Washington adds an extra 50 cents per gallon tax and that price was for 89 octane, but still….
Damn 3.49 for 87 in the toledo area
Reasonable ?
Local BJ's is $2.96 per gallon.
(too bad about the apostrophe)
Wow and 😂😂😂
Sorry for the smile, Richard. I was wondering what BJ per gallon meant.

$3.09 here.
😂😂😂 and 3.09, wow !
BJ's around here is similar to Sam's club etc.
I should’ve went to Costco which is our Sam’s Club equivalent. Would’ve knocked off around 30 cents per gallon. Sadly, Washington has consistently had top 5 U.S. cost of living rates for years.

You in Olympia/Lacy?

AR-Trvlr AR-Trvlr / Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist - can we clean up the EDC naming please? It's highly confusing.

The Encyclopedia stops at "EDC3" in 2019, unless I'm missing something. What others call EDC 1.2, Nathan calls "the 2024 version of the 3" EDC". Etc.

Best in the Encyclopedia, IMO. Let me know how I can help.

Thanks !

Roland.

Unfortunately I don’t think I can give edit rights to others, but it does seem like starting an encyclopedia edit discussion thread would allow everyone to identify and discuss necessary updates and changes. Nathan could confirm where necessary before I make the edits. Thoughts?

That would be great, and thank you much for the past heavy work and leading this !

I could almost drive up to Washington to save money on fuel, lol.

Cheapest diesel I could find up to last week: $4.699. Today: $5.399
Premium (91) last week: $4.639. Today: $5.199.

But it wasn't unusual today to see both diesel and premium over $6.50/gal as I drove to an event that I paid for several months ago. Cost me more for fuel today than I paid for the event. :(

Welcome to the republic of California that never saw a tax it didn't like. Please, sir, may I have another....
