Random Thought Thread

I'd bet that the use PayPal F&F causes a lot of the drama...

My wife does the China bashing in our household. Mostly over WeChat to her childhood friends still in China. :D
Yes...some folks go through life with blinders on, and think it's every one else's fault when something goes awry.

I get that. LOL. But there's a time and a place. (And she has skin in the game that most here cannot compete with.)

I was probably being a bit flippant since he has been a member a while and gloats on his collections and expertise. Anyone on here for even a month has seen threads about the topic with rehashing.

My "favorite" thing in the Exchange is that so many folks are unwilling to pay ten measly bucks in order to be able to send a DM to the seller of a knife they are willing to pay hundreds of dollars or more for...and then send their funds off to some scammer who sends them an email purporting to be the seller.

Then they virtuously post in the "Feedback" section about how they got taken...either by shamefacedly admitting their own guilt, warning others about the matter... or hoping one of us can rectify the situation for them...

...when we have been shouting from the rooftops for them to avoid the pitfall to begin with for years.

Nope...why spend ten bucks to protect yourself, when you can stand on principle and lose it all. Where's the fun in that?

So, I’ve made it through these past few days, finally got home, ate, and you know what?I started to REST. Nothing is going to stop me now.

By the way, speaking of scams — when I had just registered on the forum and hadn’t even bought a subscription yet because I didn’t even know it existed,I saw an ad for sale, went straight to the chat, left my email and wrote something like “contact me, I want to buy”.

Of course a scammer immediately wrote to me — with literally the same avatar as the real guy’s profile picture, and the email was made to sound almost identical.I was pretty clueless back then and had no idea about the rules or how things work… oh well.

The scammer sent me a PayPal address. The only smart thing I did was — I told him I’d send $5 first, and only if he sends me a current photo of the knife. He actually tried to send a photo, but I could already tell it was fake.

Well… looks like $5 isn’t such a huge price to pay.In return I got a funny-embarrassing story to tell, and I ended up buying the subscription anyway.

On the other hand — I never claimed to be some genius, lol.I can only imagine how painful it must be for people who sent the full amount to a scammer for a knife.

But you’ve got to give scammers credit — they work extremely, extremely well. They clearly understand something.I think the only reason I got away losing just $5 wasn’t because I’m so smart… I was just being extra cautious and a bit sneaky.

The Exchange for sure. (Posting multiple times in a 24 hour period in a given category, failing to provide the timestamp or comply with the rules, not posting a complete price etc ad nauseum)

Posts in the wrong area of the site. (Including off-topic, China bashing, politics, etc etc etc)

Butthurt

Tanto Quantavious

On Fridays, there is a lot of gnashing of teeth by those with slow ISPs or who can't compete with those who allegedly use programs / bots to grab up the items listed in leisurely sales, especially if they buy for the purpose of flipping. (Above my pay grade. I don't know much about bots and programming.)
Right on cue, Folders 1 and Folders 2 in Individual needs attention.

It's your thing.
It's your right to decide for how much to sell it and whether to tell others the price you sold YOUR thing for.

Any item is worth exactly as much as someone is willing to pay you for it.
And honestly, I don’t see anything wrong with someone reselling things for a huge profit.

Does it annoy me that sometimes they make even more money than the person who actually produced it?
Yes, it does annoy me.

But once again — any item is worth exactly as much as someone is willing to pay for it.
If they bought it, that means that’s what it was worth.

But now to the important part.
I’ve got these shorts with holes in them, but I still wear them and I don’t care. Do you guys do that too? Is it socially acceptable?

Depends on where the hole is :)

And your wife should approve. Just a suggestion :)

Right where my right leg is — well, not exactly an intimate spot.
My wife?
She just never stops being amazed when I prove that yeah, I’m actually going to wear them and I couldn’t care less what anyone thinks.

They need to be patched up, but I want to do it myself.
I need some funny, silly, cheerful sticker-patch for it.
