You're not going to believe this

But my old 97 7.3 PS Ford truck broke down again

Looking for some advice here

A bad o-ring on an injector allowed high pressure oil into the fuel system and now it's got about a gallon or two of 15-40 synthetic in the fuel tank with about 10 gallons of diesel.

Somebody said to just run it. I'm skeptical.

I walked up front and the main diesel tech isn't here yet, I'll go back up and check again soon as I get some free time

I am retired and was a 7.3PS tech for years - are ya sure about 2 gallons of oil in tank? Sounds extreme - if oring is repaired, I would fill tank run until half and top off again and run down highway to clear - had to do similar before when folks put unleaded in a diesel tank

It pumped enough oil into the fuel tank that the HPOP reservoir emptied and could no longer cycle the injectors. I think it takes about 2 gallons to do that.

Pump it out first, as good as you can (with one of these gas thief pumps you can buy) . Then fill it up full. Then run it.
