If, IF you can find one that some d-bag dealer isn't listing at way over MSRP. 🤨 (Yes, I've been looking at precisely that vehicle.)

Holy smokes. I would not have thought that would happen with Toyota

They say the old plugin version of the Ford C-Max was actually pretty good and it's under the radar. Although it is kind of like a fat girl. It might be good, but you don't want your friends to see you in it.

The Lexus plug in 450s are supposed to be pretty good. I was looking for one for Jo for a little while before I forgot that I'm poor.

Hell, even the new Prius is pretty compelling on paper

The industry tried to make the change to an all electric plug-in vehicle too quickly. Toyota figured this out early and they also make very good cars.

It's strange to me that the pushback against electric vehicles, which is frequently irrational, tends to be a right-wing conservative stance. These are the people that should be all about self-sufficiency and not importing foreign oil.

They're weird about solar panels too

Solar panels have gotten dirt cheap

I think the missing ingredient right now is an easily swappable battery pack.

This would be a pretty ideal setup if the shit hits the fan and everybody else runs out of gas. And not only is your car working, your well and your air conditioning and refrigerator are working too.

All the while reducing dependency on foreign oil. Which tends to come from people who are not our friends. Even if we don't use their oil, our use of oil increases the value of oil.

I look forward to a future where oil is used as a raw material for petrochemicals and not just burnt.

"Saving the environment" is just a happy side effect.

Toyota has them figured out very well, they’ve been doing them for over 20 years. But they are all temperature sensitive, no extreme heat or extreme cold, the batteries need a certain temp to operate. The vehicles will maintain an optimal battery temp through heat & cold by operating the climate control system as needed driving or parked with no driver. NC hell yeah I’d own one, up here ain’t a good idea.
