Is that a surface grinder?

Yeah, our old 32" finally died

We're hard on grinders here. We run the legs off of them.

We have other grinders but this is the only one with enough cross travel to do the kukri sheets. We've been dead in the water for a couple weeks 😞

I actually had a spare grinder. Even a little bigger. But I had to almost completely rewire it.

I watch for these at auctions. This particular grinder is not real common, you can't just go get one anytime you want one, so it's important to have one on hand.

Anyways, this is a particularly lovely specimen. And I'm going to put it on mothballs now that I have the 40" running and almost ready for production.

3-axis fully automatic grinder. Pretty cool piece of kit. I think it's number 6.

We are hard on grinders. They are high precision tools, 50 millionth of an inch increments, intended for tool and die type work. Mass producing knives is kind of a dumb use for one, but I like to do dumb stuff and sometimes you can find a good one at auction that's not too spendy.

They're fragile and they weigh about four tons though. Always a good time.
