I think they would probably be dismissed as ignorant racists, but that would require acknowledging them and then (gasp) perhaps talking about their concerns

It's one thing to have been conquered by Britain. But then, for Britain to do nothing while you are invaded. And, in fact, require you to pay for it.

I would have a problem with it

What actually scares me is something else.

That people will choose anything just to avoid what is happening now.

It’s like people are literally being pushed into radicalization.

And that’s dangerous...!

Because the last veeeery radical shift happened in Europe, and the context was more or less similar.

Oh...!

The cyclical nature is explained by the fact that everyone forgets too quickly what led to what and why...

I had a superficial education about Western history and European history while attending University.

And they really glossed over a lot of stuff

I am very ignorant on the subject matter and, simultaneously, probably substantially better educated than the average person

The thing that really strikes me the most is the fairy tale that people live in where they do not recognize the fact that "history" did not happen that long ago, and it never stopped. It is still happening

People tend to look at it as something that happened in the past but this situation now is the new normal and will stay this way. ←that is delusional thinking and very very common

If a person of average intelligence were to simply study European history and then look at the situation today, what comes next is obvious.

What they're doing now WILL NOT WORK and it is magical thinking to think otherwise.

Mass deportations is the moderate choice.

It is insane how leaders continue to allow situations like this to become critical. They are past the point of a "good" outcome. I don't know what will happen, but I can guarantee you it won't be "good".

It all comes down to "might makes right" and the victors get to write the history (and law) books. Otherwise the native Americans would have shown most of us of European lineage to the exits already.

Though I can't say that the revolving door of holocausts and crusades is particularly inviting. And so it goes.

I enter and exist this discussion with the sage words of:

I was on a hunting trip in Maryland and our guide mentioned the War of Northern Aggression. It too me a second to realize what he was talking about and I almost burst out laughing.
My dad was from upstate New York and my mom was from Virginia, and when they argued, it was always "The war of the Northern Aggression" vs. "The War of the Southern Rebellion" 😉
