Random Thought Thread

I will try it. I did actually add hot shots additive before I left. My truck had never needed a regen in the 90,000+ miles since I’ve had it. Then up around 7000 feet up to 11000 feet it kept saying regen keep driving. Then it kept spray diesel in there to try to clear it. It just smelled like hot diesel, which seemed less than ideal. And it would do that over and over until it got to 140% capacity and reduce my engine power while trying to pull a trailer up mountains.

Oh

Yeah

Shit....

Yeah, that's not good. Those are ideal conditions for a dpf, it should regen passively with that.

Edit to add: unless you're running some kind of a tune. If you're running a tune, all bets are off.

This sounds like a combination of blow by plus EGR and not using a low ash oil.

You will need to talk to someone more knowledgeable than I, but it might be time to consider a DPF and EGR delete.

That soot is not just corking up your DPF. The EGR is actually not harmful to a young fresh engine that's running well (and it helps reduce cylinder temperatures which helps protect the top ring) but once they get some miles on them that EGR will kill an otherwise good engine and I think you might be looking at one of the first symptoms.

Random question: what the hell is sliced, organic turkey made from?
That's basically a turkey hot dog.

His attorney was Mike Howard; a private attorney.

He has, however requested a public defender for the appeal, citing “financial hardship”, because apparently, there’s no money left from the GSG, after the $900k mansion and the Escalade 🙄

“Furthermore, allegations that the family bought a new home or car are not supported by credible evidence.”

Wtf does that mean. These are readily verifiable facts. Either it is or it isn’t. Snopes leaves these facts ambiguous, and is trash. And you guys are talking about a lot of outrage inducing headlines. If you read something that provokes immediate outrage, there’s a good chance you are being brainwashed.

In the mid nineties and early 2000’s, I had a 1990 Dodge 250 Ram turbo diesel that I purchased from my mom, when my dad passed. It would get 20 mph on the highway. It had a 30 gallon tank, so long camping and diving trips were doable on one tank. Back then, diesel cost less than regular gas. The truck had an eight foot bed and a single bench seat. It actually handled pretty well and was a pretty reliable workhorse for all of the remodeling and landscaping we were doing, at the time. I eventually sold it because the stiff suspension beat my messed up lower back to death.

What’s in the article?

My proxy algorithm on the internet blocks this site as purely advertising.

It is usually very accurate...

P.S.
Oh, I ran it through an additional safe window and figured it out…

You can't generally prove a negative, you can't prove that they didn't buy a house and car. However the fundraising site says they had not taken out the money at the times those claims were made, so that should be enough to put them to bed. The burden of proof is on those claiming they did. No evidence was found so the claim is rejected as unfounded.

Glad that I didn't get to know you back then 🤣

That Snopes article was last updated in 2025.

This article says funds were disbursed.

“The fundraiser was supported to support pre-trial needs, and those funds were disbursed over the last year,” the statement read. “With that stated purpose complete, the fundraiser has been closed.”

So you’re saying that the link from Snopes is accurate, and this one from Fox News is inaccurate (including the statement from GiveSendGo about disbursing funds)?

I took the Chevy with a heavy trailer through Wyoming. The Duramax did not like the altitude. I had to stop a two dealerships to get forced regens and map and maf sensors cleaned. That thin air was choking it out and burning fuel in an inefficient way causing massive amounts of soot. It was limp molding me. As soon as I got back down below 4-5000 it turned its own check engine light off and got back to business as usual.
Could be MAP sensor or turbo actuator taking a shit.
I had a similar experience going from 1,000ft to 6,000ft elevation change in my 04 Sprinter van. I replaced the MAF, MAP, turbo and actuator 10 or so years ago and it still runs like a scolded cat.
Also check your intake boost tube for cracks or splits. That’ll cause regen and or limp mode in a heartbeat.
