The field knife works well as a large Skinner.

And here I was hoping you’d accelerate the Skinner schedule for hunting season :)

Only know related kitchen use … maybe shorter would be better. FK[12] or DEK[12] would be the other personal choice.

Then again, the Shiv did excellent on turkey ! :)

That's good to hear. Assuming I drop a moose this Fall, I've been pondering what blade I'm going to use. The BFK might just be the ticket.
The basic field knife in Cruwear would be the optimal tool for that. Geometry, metallurgy, ergonomics. It's perfect for that.

Don't split the pelvis. There's no reason to do that.

If you split the sternum, go off to one side a little bit. You can baton that knife.

This is a moose sized skinning knife. It will be perfect.

Unlike a deer, where you just have to cut the skin and basically peel it like a banana, something like a moose is actually going to require quite a bit of cutting and this knife is perfect for that task.

Bring a diamond sharpening stone to touch the edge up. A knife that can do a dozen deer without getting resharpening might need touched up halfway through a moose, if you want to maintain that crazy sharp cutting edge that glides through connective tissues like a laser beam.
