Random Thought Thread

Right? And you'd think they'd be cheaper without the outer shell, but nope. Changed the oil on my car the other day and noticed a drip today. Checked and it was coming from the filter housing. Guess I had it a bit too tight, so re-torqued it with an actual f'ing torque wrench, and seems to be ok. Have never had to use a torque wrench on a filter or drain plug in my life.
Location? Good!! It’s right on top of the engine! Just have to make sure I don’t drip too much….

Replacement? Hmmm alright…. Am I sure this paper/cardboard replacement is in the housing right??? Let’s hope……

Wait! I need to replace the O ring too!!!

Putting housing back on?? Cross threaded? Let’s hope not!! Did I get that tight? Let’s hope so!!! (T.W.S.S. 😆)

(2.7 Ford)

The work is not that hard …… I realize these are 1st world problems, but like lauffer and Murph are alluding to, it’s nice to be able to “change oil” and have it be a simple, “I’m sure this is done 100%” job!

Oh yeah! Plastic oil plug too!!! 😍😍😍. (I’ve already replace mine with a “valve”)

Top of the engine? Luxury!

The dealer cross threaded that stupid housing doing the “free” oil change on my wife’s Toyota. I had to use an impact to get it off and it shattered into smithereens. What a stupid system. I explained it to the dealership and in their defense they owned it, said they knew their tech was screwing them up and gave me a new one. Same dealer later told me that on the same car, the transmission wiring harness wasn’t covered as part of the powertrain warranty. I know Toyotas are popular but that car was honestly a pain in the rear and soured me on them for a while.

I always get the urge to apologize when I clutter this thread with one of my random thoughts but then I remember it’s the random thought thread so it’s all good.

I just read that when you break a bone, it weakens all the bones in your body. And if you're young you bounce back but if you're older you're just kind of fucked

If somebody breaks their femur, they lose something like 15% of their bone mass everywhere including their vertebrae. And, if you're young it will rebound but if you're middle-aged it's largely permanent

I sure am glad I'm made out of rubber

I broke my radius and ulna in a fight as a kid. It was hard to play stickball with a cast on, but I survived.

Never held me back after healing, but it took a while to get up to speed on the chinning bar.

Calcium + D3 + K2.

Gets the calcium where it needs to go.
