Mmmm! I could eat salmon almost every day. Nice picture Bob. So you train that 1000 mm lens testing in your porch on something other that the girls on the beach! Mike

(Disclaimer - I have no idea what type of camera and lens Bob has, and furthermore, have no evidence at all that he trains it on the beach. It just seemed like a good opportunity to get a little humor in. (And now, Bob shouldn’t be able to sue me for libel, I hope.)). Mike

Hey, I use an old Nikon Coolpix, this image on manual at about 12x with 1 sec exposure. And not nearly good enough to capture anything really well (surfers at the rock look like black dots - lol), but at least I can capture it without leaving either balcony.

And I've been eating as much salmon as I can since the season opened, I could eat it to the exclusion of all else, almost.

Cool pic Bob! Do you get the squid boats up that way also? I used to enjoy seeing them out fishing with their lights on my way to work in the pre-dawn along the 101.
 
While I spent the weekend nerding out at Blade Show, the wife and boy got to nerd out at the new Star Wars section of Disneyland...they had a blast! Picked up a bunch of cool stuff including a sweet patch for the bag o' doom:D

In my late teens I did lawn care and landscaping. I was running a 36” walk behind entering a fenced backyard. Just beyond the gate I went through, they had railroad tie lining the flower bed. It was a tight area. We had removed the safety that shuts down the mower if you let go of it (so you couldn’t let it go). I bumped a tie that had a nest of yellow jackets living under it and they weren’t very happy about it. I got stung 19 times before getting far enough away that they left me alone. Ahhhh, good times!

My Dad got into some a couple years ago and it about killed him. Old guy went into shock. He got hit by a bunch and was properly envenomated. Passed out. Ambulance and hospital level shit. So I REALLY hate those little assholes.

I got into some when I was a little boy and it had the opposite of the intended effect. Instead of conditioning me to stay away and leave them alone instead I killed all of those bastards (gasoline and a pickle jar over the opening) and continued finding them and killing them all from then on. I have personally killed so many red paper wasps and yellow jackets I sincerely hope there is no post life tribunal where I'm held accountable for insect genocide (insecticide?)

Yellow jackets and red paper wasps are the worst. Seriously. Fuck those little bastards.

My father loved fuckin' with bees and wasps. He would go after one of those paper nests with his coveralls on and a long sleeve shirt, in the midwest heat. He had a paddle, very much like what you play ping pong with, but a hair larger, into which he had drilled lotsa holes to eliminate as much wind resistance as he could, so when he swung that baby, it killed a few at a time. Man, he just LOVED killing those things.

But he wouldn't get anywhere NEAR those big hornets, those scared him - but not bees or any wasps.
 
Yep, F’em all.

Those bastards love to nest in the outlet boxes on the temporary power poles at construction sites.
After being stung 20+ separate times, I got smart and sprayed the cover with brake cleaner to temporarily freeze the assholes till they fell out and got stomped on.
