Woohoo! It’s raining! Let’s see if this provides a brief respite of clearer air.

I remember it being one of the reasons I loved rain when living in L.A. - if it was heavy enough and lasted at least 30 minutes, it would clean the air for a couple hours before the smog built up again.

Conversely, if it was only a short passing squall, all it did was drive the air pollution down, concentrating it at ground level, making the acrid stink even worse. That’s something I’ll always remember about the rain in L.A.; the first few minutes had a heavy, acrid chemical stink.
