I want one of those kitchen knives!that is a solid move, my friend. Mrs. Loriendesign and myself both nixed the booze 4 years ago, and have not looked back. It's saved us so much money, and our health has been much improved.
leaves me more time and money to do things like this;

and less time hanging out with people I actually can't stand, which is almost everyone.
What's your interest... The kephart design or the Carothers brand?Could someone sell me on a kephart? I’ve never owned one and I’m debating on picking one up on Friday.
Well the brand doesn’t need much selling for me lol. I know i want to get some CPKs. So i guess i just need some insight on the design. I’ve heard of them and i know its famous but thats about where my knowledge ends.What's your interest... The kephart design or the Carothers brand?
Because if it's the kephart, this will be about the best implementation of it you will find. If it's the Carothers as a brand, there is no better.
You won't go wrong
The design has stood the test of time...not only in the "Kephart" but in similar designs like the famous Green River "Dadley" carried by mountain men back in the day. A stout, no nonsense design which is good for many and most applications one may find useful in the field.Well the brand doesn’t need much selling for me lol. I know i want to get some CPKs. Sounds good, so its safe to say that its good for the day to day tasks as well. I may have to do some youtube digging for bushcraft videos on it. Do you have some personal insight on the handling of one?The design has stood the test of time...not only in the "Kephart" but in similar designs like the famous Green River "Dadley" carried by mountain men back in the day. Horace Kephart was a seminal figure for many outdoorsmen, past and present. He knew his way around "camping" and "woodcraft".

I really like the look of that one!the sum of the square root of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the remaining side
Spear point fixed blades have been around since men found out that it was a good way to hunt animals...and other men. The only thing it lacks is a fine point, which also makes it less apt to snap under duress.Sounds good, so its safe to say that its good for the day to day tasks as well. Excellent! I’ll pick one up. I own some other fine points which should hold me over till I can get my hands on CPK i like more in that form factor.Spear point fixed blades have been around since men found out that it was a good way to hunt animals...and other men. The spear point has been the main blade in cattle knives carried by ranchers for generations.
It simply works. If you feel you might need a finer point, just carry something light in your pocket or pack to take care of it, otherwise, there is really nothing lacking in the design...which is no frills, all business.
I don't have a CPK to comment on...but will do plenty of commenting on the ones I'm looking forward to in days to come. (Different patterns.)
Yes, it would be safe to say it will handle day to day tasks.
Nothing wrong with that!If a certain someone had been born in another era, in Coney Island, Brooklyn and had pursued a (slightly) different course...

When I was a kid, that was the place you hoped you'd be going on the weekend. Coney Island, Nathan's, the boardwalk and Steeplechase Park.Nothing wrong with that!
Stop it, the only knife I can justify is a kitchen knife. The fixed blades are nice to have (I love my dek), but a nice kitchen knife is a must.
