It is uncomfortably hot here today. The AC can't keep up with it.
It has to be like a damn sauna out there with that high of humidity! It is uncomfortably hot here today. The AC can't keep up with it.
So I suppose I know of no example where a human has ever made a decision unselfishly for the sole benefit of others.
Something of such a silent nature probably wouldn't be spoken of, so I would probably not be able to read about it or comment on it.Well, it isn't quite that easy, friend. Assuming that you, and/or some reader here, has ever "silently" gifted a knife to a previously-unknown individual, WITHOUT thought of being later praised by anyone for your unselfish act...then perhaps you could say that it "qualifies."
OTOH, if you say it just serves to increase one's measure of self-worth...then I would be quick to agree with your premise.

I think your "No regret" policy, although absolute in nature, creates communication. The result of that communication is dependant on the level of acceptance the other side has toward listening to your perspective, and your ability to listen to theirs. There is always an answer. Whether that answer is collaborative, compromising, or crushing is up to the parties involved. It happened at all levels.Obviously, I am in full agreement, although there is generally a "failure to listen." I would note that even someone in upper management has a "boss" who can render your position unsustainable.
I wasn't included in any of those afore-mentioned three groups, as I'm much too ancient. However, that is a pertinent aspect of the reason why I left a management position after 17 yrs, and in doing so, sacrificed a half-way decent pension if I had continued to 25 yrs. Bottom Line: NO REGRET. A matter of pride, perhaps, and of principle, even though I "pimped" the economic future of my family in the doing.

I recently took on the management of the engineering department at my company. As part of the process I am meeting each one of the guys one on one.
Lack of discernable empathy is something I've picked up on. Seeing the situation from their perspective is very eye opening! This article is pretty spot on. Thanks for sharing.
