Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist How’d you known it was my thumb?! Ha. Stupid accidents are when I could go for a 5-second rewind life feature.

I was trying to de-smudge that mesmerizing hollow grind on the Boot Dagger one day and got a little careless.

Before I had my K18 sheath from Chad, I went to get it off a shelf to clean the schumtz off from a test session. Don’t even know what happened…I think I was trying to keep something else from falling. Back edge caught my thumb and I had a stitches or glue/tape decision to make!

It will keel.

I'm personally fine with whatever he wants to ask for it. It's hard to price things that don't sell often and that you know you won't be able to replace. If someone wants it $1,100 bad, well, that's up to them. Heck I might consider selling mine if someone wanted to throw that much at me, and I'd include the Pirtle sheath and insurance! Just a bit surprising, but I mean... I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen one sold.

The problem of course is that most of the time the knives we could sell for the most money are the ones we had the most difficulty getting and love the most, so they're hard to let go of! That's why I never made a side gig out of flipping knives, the Post Office clerks would start wondering who the guy was who was shipping stuff with $500+ insurance all the time and crying when he got to the counter.

EDIT: Not gonna lie though, a lot of the knives in my cabinet got there because I told myself I could always sell it and make a little profit! And most of them are still there!
The other problem is that insurance on USPS packages for collectibles is pretty much worthless. The won't accept the paypal transaction as proof.

I'm not sure about UPS - in my one dealing with them they accepted a variety of sources, but again for limited market collectibles documentation of value gets pretty hard.

Hey 000Robert 000Robert your post out in the exchange commenting about DEK1 scales, but not actually selling anything (that I can tell) is cornfuuzin'. May wanna get that looked at.

This one:

He was commenting in the other guy's DEK1 sales thread. I think that his posts were moved and somehow ended up as their own thread in the Exchange!

I thought that they removed them? But yeah, I should have just sent him a PM. My mistake. I figured that he made an honest mistake about the scales and was just trying to help him out.

Someone's trying to get $1,100 for a boot dagger?
Certainly closer to what they should have sold for.

Extremely limited production, intrinsically tricky to make, high demand, not likely to be seen all that often on the secondary market.

High expectation of increasing value as time progresses, as well.

I know this subforum has an inherent dislike for the so-called ‘flipper’, or perhaps resellers intent on making a profit, but even those people should be able to recognize that knives like the CPK boot dagger are precious commodities, and should be sold as such. I thought they were undervalued by at least 100% when they were initially sold by CPK. <<shrug>>

^ Yall do realize that I made 120 of them and only sold 80 because Matt bought 40 of them. At a discount. He's waiting on them to hit 10K ea and he's gonna start dribbling them out...

Knowing that most folks bought a boot dagger specifically NOT as a user, now I'm picturing them all lovingly caressing their CPK BD's in their dark basements going, "My precioussssss..." 🤣🤣🤣

I will say this in all seriousness, Nathan ought to discuss more marketing strategy and pricing matrix with you. Don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that Nathan stretches my purchasing budget the way he often underprices his knives but in all honesty, if I ever wish to part with my prized CPKs, I will not be anywhere as benevolent if the supply / demand curve should favor me.

…not to mention the container of Chinese knockoffs I’m having made of them.

No one will ever know the difference.

maaaaaaaad loot

Now THIS is funny. 🤣

…perhaps I’ll let someone else explain why.

Let’s just say that we’re on the same page, here, Mat. ;)
