Random Thought Thread

I will say this in all seriousness, Nathan ought to discuss more marketing strategy and pricing matrix with you. Don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that Nathan stretches my purchasing budget the way he often underprices his knives but in all honesty, if I ever wish to part with my prized CPKs, I will not be anywhere as benevolent if the supply / demand curve should favor me.

I don't buy knives and stuff that I think that I might want to sell. Maybe I'm just weird about that?

Now THIS is funny. 🤣

…perhaps I’ll let someone else explain why.

Let’s just say that we’re on the same page, here, Mat. ;)
Guys, c'mon, Nathan reads a lot of these threads. I just had a brief panic thinking that I didn't have any more purchases locked in, but then I remembered I still have one pre-order in progress...whew.

I promise you, buddy - you have nothing to fear. This is one of those ‘unstoppable forces meeting an immovable object’ scenarios. 🤣🤣

I don’t fault you for that but the knife game has a wide berth when it comes to buying for the purpose of using a few and then collecting a majority of them. The collection game is supposed to be a fun activity and for this very reason, I’m very grateful to have stumbled upon CPK and for having stuck with CPK as opposed to someone else who had originally led me to BF.com

I just caught up on this thread and the discussion over the boot dagger was kinda funny to read through after paying $850 for the one just listed. I think it‘s a very fair price with the $100 leather sheath (not sure what they cost from Chad), and not too far off what I offered for that $1,111 knife the other day lol.

This knife has everything going for it. Perfect storm of artistry in it’s design and limited manufacture. It’s pure badass and goes great with a chopper. Hell, I might just hold it in a dark place and chant to it!

Don’t worry, it’s for my enjoyment, not flippering

Delta 3V is good to go. 👍

And I don't fault them that do sell their stuff. I hate paying the interest but I have used pawn shops at times during my life. At least I could get my stuff back and just lose some money in interest.

Certainly closer to what they should have sold for.

Extremely limited production, intrinsically tricky to make, high demand, not likely to be seen all that often on the secondary market.

High expectation of increasing value as time progresses, as well.

I know this subforum has an inherent dislike for the so-called ‘flipper’, or perhaps resellers intent on making a profit, but even those people should be able to recognize that knives like the CPK boot dagger are precious commodities, and should be sold as such. I thought they were undervalued by at least 100% when they were initially sold by CPK. <<shrug>>
I don't disagree... it actually makes it worse because for things like the Boot Dagger and the K18, I've only got the one, and the more stratospheric the prices seem to go, the more time I have to spend cuddling with them to remind me why I haven't cashed out!

In this case it was just a shock because so few have sold, but most were around the $600-700 mark, so seeing an asking price nearly double has us all intensely interested on if it will sell.

Personally, with the sheath I think that is a fair price. I would not expect to see too many if any lower than that in the coming months and years.

Thanks, I really wasn‘t sure where the line was on these but I had a range in mind of what I’d pay based on what other CPK knives have gone for and what I’ve paid for some. Still a bit high but hell, with the UF2 options on the pre-order knives, it’s easy to get that 700-800 mark with the dagger grind, a satin finish and wood scales. Everything about this dagger is limited so in my brain it was worthy.

K18 just sold for 2k …
I am tempted to out my ghetto fabulous K18 with custom Azwleke sheath up now.
Wow. I should put it and my BD up and make a sweet down payment on… i dunno. My son’s future higher education endeavors?
I am mourning my failure to buy two K18s.

I should be getting one before the end of the year with PirtleMade leather, and I got a black linen Boot Dagger with PirtleMade leather, and currently those two things are outperforming all my actual investments!:eek::eek:

Knowing that most folks bought a boot dagger specifically NOT as a user, now I'm picturing them all lovingly caressing their CPK BD's in their dark basements going, "My precioussssss..." 🤣🤣🤣

Hey I bought mine to make sheaths lol. Was so lucky to even score one that itself was crazy. Besides some inexpensive daggers from the 80’s it’s the only dagger I own.

Hell my UF2 preorder was like $700, and the DEK1 you got from me was not too far off from that, either!
