Too bad common sense is no longer common. The book, (which I have a hardcover copy of in my "outdoors and wilderness" library), was published right around the time my maternal grandfather gave me my first pocketknife as a young boy. Been hooked ever since.

And things have to stay so formal here the mods can’t make remarks, why isn’t there just a formal For Sale category for these knives like there is for Busses here? Does it cost money?

Items for sale or trade by individuals - folders, fixed blades, automatics and more!

Having a category like that would help prevent non-Gold+ members from posting For Sale ads here, too, which bypasses the membership rules.

I was just asking why Carothers don’t have a for sale section like Busses do? Seems very odd to me, especially since the thread lets potential sellers bypass membership rules.

Understood. I thought I was helping out as I still don’t understand why they don’t have their own for sale section, and since I believe it was the mods who got the slightly off topic discussion started, so I was just trying to side with you.
 
^^^some do (Busse, CRK), some don't (Fiddleback Forge, Carother's). It's allowed and still has to comply with forum rules, one of which is no chatting in sales posts. All rules about 2 week reposting, gold level to sell, etc. also apply.

Folks get along better if they learn to take a hint.

Well, since no (allegedly) good deed goes unpunished, you will have to seek your CPK knives in the general Exchange area henceforth as your posting privileges in the CPK buy / sell / trade area have been revoked.

The K18s are behind schedule so posting a WTB thread (the every two weeks rule apply in there too per SM Blues) is pretty much futile at this point. Most likely there will be a few coming up for sale by those who receive theirs and decide that it doesn't work out for them for a variety of reasons but those will be far and few in-between. Those of us who have been entrenched in here since the inception of this sub do get heads up of such WTS in advance so some of these rarer CPKs don't even see the light of day on the Exchange but such are the privileges of behaving and being a good citizen both in here and the over all Site by and large.

Nathan had said that when this K18 project finally gets wrapped up, there will be a few of them, maybe a handful which CPK will sell directly at around $1500 (CPK lost $ on this project at the original $1195 price) so you may want to watch out and practice your keyboard-foo skills for such events. I personally feel that these K18s are well worth north of $2K and I will not be surprised if one day they fetch crazy $ on the secondary market in parallel to the legend of the CPK-Shiv. Too bad that Nathan lost $ on these and that it has caused him lots of headache and aggravation in the process but he has hopefully learned the first rule of the sword club: Thou Shalt Not Make (real) Swords (for) Under 5K!
