Ranger knives.

Man this is what comes from being a college student endless agonizing over purchases.
In the end I have decided to say screw it and get the RD9 after all only 10 more dollars and I will have the two inches in case.

I have been borrowing someone else's Busse for chopping needless to say I tried "borrowing" it a couple of times. As previously mentioned no way I can afford one so Ranger it is.

course now where to buy is the question they are hard to find and brigade quartermaster is giving me issues.
Never mind figured it out 121.94 delivered looks like the beer isn't going to be flowing for a couple of weeks.

Congrats! RD9 is a great choice! Please post pictures when it comes in! :D

Curiosity is getting the best of me, what Busse model did you borrow? And what did you think? :)

RD9s are very sturdy knives. I've not tried one of the newer models - just the original style (Busse apprentice blank) with a hollow grind and the later flat grind. I definitely like the flat grind better for chopping.

Best of luck - Justin won't do you wrong. Truly a standup guy. I need to get one of the Renegade hawks soon. As long as the grips of the RD fit you, you've got a winner.

(BTW - You can always contact Justin directly. He sells many of his knives directly to the customer.)

Beer and an RD-9 don't mix so it's just as well:

Great choice! Justin makes knives at extremely reasonable prices. The RD-9 would still be a great deal at even 200 dollars. Let us know what you think!

Shsssssss! Damn! Don't let him know! Otherwise I won't be able to afford one in the future! :D :D
As everyone else said... congrats for your purchase and don't forget about the pictures as soon as you get it.

The regular version though. Also I am love with it.

I got a satin finished recurve RD9 and it was a great deal, and Justin is great to deal with. Good choice.
Looks like this one with orange scales.

Yeah just going plain black scales. Standard issue version. Now just can't wait to order it and wait anxiously for it to arrive.

Go to Justin's site, Rangerknives, and you can see all he has to offer. I recommend dealing with him directly. You can also customise them anyway you like; handles, recurves, finish etc for a little extra.
He is a pleasure to deal with and will help you to get exactly what you want. His customer service and warranty is top class.

Yeah the site's online ordering is down.

I can't remember that it ever worked. BUT, just drop him an email. He's one of the nicest guys I've ever dealt with. He almost always answered my emails in less than 24 hours.

If you go direct you'll get it faster.

Going direct got me an RD-9 in S7 shock-resistant steel. Well, it cost more and I asked for other options, too, but I went direct and got exactly what I wanted. Learned it from Mark Nelson - the owner of an RD-7 in S7.

I have a question about the RD7. How thin does the blade get from the original 0.25" at the spine, right before it goes into the cutting edge (sorry I forgot the terminology at tge moment)? In other words, how good is the knife for slicing and controlled cutting?
