Ranger Knives

I love my RD. It's not an everything knife, but when I need so destruction done, it does the job.

I have a shiv on order and a RD6. Justin is great to deal with and makes a tough knife. I had Normark make pants for the RD6. Sweeet!

My HI Khukuris are made from 5160. It's an outstanding steel that holds an edge and is easy to maintain.

How do people who use 5160 feel about edge retention?

I did some serious chopping and banging on my RD7 last year and the edge is like I did nothing to it!

That edge held great, I was amazed, it's still like the day I got it. It never was razor sharp, and I didn't want it to be, it's my chopper/beater but it was sharp enough and waaaay tough and durable.

I got an RD7 awesome knife. First thing it did when I unsheathed it was bite me. Showed me who's boss. I like that :)

What sheaths are you guys using for these knives? I like the spec ops combat master. Was wondering if anyone used this sheath and how the fit is?

you've been here since 05 and haven't seen all the threads we've made of Rangers!

IMO their are none better than Justin for customer support
and getting what you want. No better person to deal with
and Rangers are made to use and use some more.

If you want a perfect safe queen, their are other options,
if you want a tough blade you can trust, at a great deal,
Rangers are one of the best...

Agreed...

Recently bought an RD9 from Justin
It's a great knife and doing business with him was a pleasure

Since I ordered by phone and had a chance to speak with him, I asked him for some info on care, sharpening & maintenance of the convex edge
He was real helpful with some great methods and tips

Really a thoroughly professional and knowledgeable guy with a tremendous product

I'm happy enough with the new and improved stock nylon sheath that Justin provides, I find the pouch very useful for storing my fire kit. Spec-Ops makes some nice stuff, but I want to keep the whole Ranger package as inexpensive as possible. Custom sheathing every Ranger I have would be cost prohibitive for me.

I"d go for the RD7 over the RD6 for an all-round blade. The RD7 has slightly better balance to me, having handled an RD6 at Blade. Just feels a bit better in my hand. Plus, that extra inch or so doesn't hurt.

How do you all find the handle slabs ? They just look a little too bulky to me but not owning one I don't know ?

Actually the handles are really for bigger hands, but it still feels good in the hand.
