Ranger RD6 Customizations

I just had Justin make me an RD7 with some custom blue/black G10 scales and satin finish instead of black coating on the blade. It will be here in a day or two so I will post up some pictures. As far as modifications go, it depends on what you will be using the knife for. For instance, he is also building me another RD7 that I will be giving to my Dad. On that blade he will be doing a 3/4 sabre grind like the blade on a Swamp Rat Ratweiler so that it will have more weight out over the blade for a little more chopping power. My Dad wants to maximize chopping power without going with a blade longer than 7.5" so Justin recommended doing it this way. He will also be making the scales for this knife out of a piece of Mesquite burl that my Dad had laying around. This is definitely a custom knife and the price is just amazing. He is a great guy to work with. I don't know exactly what you will be doing with the knife but you might also want to check out his new TFI series knives seen here.

I Will be ordering one of these bad boys soon as well!

Justin's work is awesome as is. You don't necessarily need anything extra.

Can anyone tell what is the normal edge thickness in RD?
I just got an RD4, and it's edge thickness is .25"; w/satin finish ...might be a custom, though...I'm the second owner. Haven't figured it out yet.

I just got finished ordering mine, Rd-3.5, satin 5160 1/4in thick blade, flat ground, with a thinner edge than production. Handle is green micarta, thumb grooves, and with an extended skullcrusher pommel. Its gonna kick ass! I belive I will go the Leatherface route, and name it when I get it, but not wererabbit, thats already taken. ;)

I used to edc a Strider AR, so I like brick like:D , I just thought it was time to move on to something much tougher, and cheaper, that I can actually abuse!

This is similar to what my brother is doing for me. He is making a desert ironwood handle for a progressive tempered lauri blade, sheath will have firesteel with ironwood handle. I got him the ironwood when I lived in Arizona with the requirement that I get a knife out of it. That was 5 years ago.

This should be a perfect camp blade, looks awesome.
