Ranger RD6 Customizations

Got this little guy in the mail today. 4 inches of 5/32" full flat grind. Used it to make dinner tonight, great slicer. Cut up some roma tomatoes into 1/8" slices easily. Should be a great camp blade. I haven't seen anyone with this style of blade from justin on these forums yet. I love the micarta scales and the handle is contoured well. This blade has changed my vision for the custom i'll be ordering.

This blade gave me ideas for my custom blade. Basically same blade shape but 5" by 1 1/4" by 3/16" with choil and thumb ramp like the RD. Handle contoured the same but with extended pommel like Rd but smooth and rounded. For scales probably the bocote the knife is resting on, what I'll be making the firesteels out of also.

Just a quick question for you Ranger fans out there. For my custom Justin said he could use some of the bocote in the picture above. The only issue is that it isn't stabilized. is this really a big deal? I think bocote scales would look awesome and be more unique, but I also like the micarta on the blade pictured as well. Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks.

yea it can be a big deal..you could send the pieces off and have them stabilized or you could do it yourself using Nelsonite
